Default Does anyone have the new "Cohesive Gel "implants?

Does anyone have the new cohesive gel implants? I have researched a little on the internet and read that there are only 23 doctors licensed to implant these here in the United States at this time. I am wanting to know which doctors, who's good, and any valuable information someone may have. My saline implants are almost 10 years old and I have heard very positive things about the new implants. Thanks!

Sorry I can't answer your questions because I'm from canada you you probably don't want to come up here to get them done.

My new co-gels are one year old now and I've had zero complications with them , they are soft and hold their shape. I can't even feel them inside me. If it not be for the crease incision scar , nobody could tell I have my boobs done. implantforum.com is also a very good site for information.

I had the cohesive gels on Dec. 30 2004 by Dr. Lewis Berger in Tampa. My old salines were almost 10 yrs old, & I had a leak!

They definitely look and feel better than the salines did, but I had some complications, plus I had a deformity to begin with (tuberous breasts). I just went for my 3 month checkup, and when I saw my old pics, I couldn't believe it! I got the anatomical shape, I thought I wouldn't like it compared to my old rounds, but they do look pretty nice.

I got the Full Height, Full Projection 535 g Inamed cohesive gels (unfortunately Inamed's Extra Full projection is only available in Canada at this time, and if you're a US citizen you can't be operated on in Canada). I am originally a 34 a, small b, and I am now a full C small D. Weird, w/535 g you'd think I'd be bigger, but mine had to be put partially under the muscle and I think that has something to do with compressing it down more maybe?

You can look up inamed, silimed, and mentor's websites and search for doctors in your area who do the cohesives.

I'd be happy to answer any further questions you might have!

I didn't know US patients couldn't get them either until I was in Toronto last January for a consultation with Dr. Sliwin!

Brandy - you're welcome, glad I could help.

Wow.. that is weird. When I lived in Seattle the Dr.s advertised their Canadian practices to us US Washingtonians... for Lasik and BAs... in the local (Seattle) paper. They even offered transportaion and lodging services! That was 4 years ago so maybe something has changed... or maybe British Columbia has different provincial laws than Ontario.

I have co-gels. I got them October 25 2004 and am very happy with the results. No complications, but I didn't realise how long the healing actually takes. I am just now starting to feel normal most of the time, but do occasionally still get zingers of nerve regeneration. My 6 month follow up is a the end of this month.

I went from a saggy 34B to a very perky 34DD. I went low profile 355ccs anatomicals from Mentor. They are very natrual looking, and are looking more natural every day. My Dr. is Mark Jewel of Eugene, Oregon. I know at least two other dancers who have used him and are pleased with the results. One dancer with the co-gels looks so natural, that not even other dancers knew that she had them done. We just assumed that she had been blessed.

I'm just starting to research breast implants. I was wondering how does the appearance of cohesive gels silicone differ from saline? I've heard saline is softer feeling and also more likely to ripple. It's also alot easier to find doctors who'll do saline. Do cohesive gels look better than saline or hold their shape better than saline? Thanks.

It's not a matter of performing the surgery, it's a matter of using silicone implants. Apparently this is due to some cross-border agreement with the USFDA. American girls can definitely still get saline implants from Canadian doctors.

The major difference in both appearance and feel/movement is that saline implants are simply a bag filled with salt water whereas silicone gel implants are filled with a high viscosity substance that physically resembles 'honey' or as somebody else posted a 'gummy bear' candy.

Personally speaking, all of the cohesive gel silicone implants that I have seen tend to remind me of 'teenage tits' because of the added firmness and gravity defying perkiness compared to liquid silicone or saline implants. While this isn't an objectionable characteristic when the girl is 18 or 21 years old, it strikes me as being a bit unnatural on girl like me who is over 30.

Do you HAVE to have saline implants before you can get co-gels??? Or can you get co-gels as your first time??? Some questions: (I'm sorry for my lack of knowledge with BA) Are co-gels just legal in a couple states, or what??? Is OHIO one of them??? How many doctors do them? Do they cost more than salines??? When will they be available to everyone, if they are not already???

    Thanks =)

Does anyone know what can happen if your cogels rupture? Any side affects? How do you even know they rupture when they stay there? And how long can you have them ruptured in you?

BTW, Melonie you're the best. You know your stuff so well.

A few girls have them in my club and many have had problems with them shifting! Be careful with these girls.. they look amazing, feel nice etc.. But they do tend to shift.

From looking around at mentor, inamed, mcghan etc... studies it looks as if they really don't know what happens when it ruptures including side effects. The only way they can really tell a rupture is MRI or mammogram, the patient might feel the breast as different, because the breast capsule might thicken. Right now in the US it is only avaliable thru clinical study trials. The exculsion and inclusionary criteria differs depending on study and sponsor (mentor, inamed, etc.) From looking around it looks to be either phase II-phase IV clinical study which means that it is not yet approved for general use for the population, but approved for whatever stage of study that it is in right now. This means there is a commitment to stay in the study if you get the implants for however many years the study might be including any testing done. The number of doctors just depends on how many are Principle Investigators in the particular study, which would be a few since each sponsor has a couple of studies going. It looks as if you have to pay for the surgery, not too clear on implant cost, but first of course you have to be included as a study patient which means they take medical history, physical examine, testing etc... then depending on that information you might be included or excluded from the study. The implants would probably be ready for general population use if and when a sponsors' study finishes phase IV and approved by the FDA for general population use, which can be years.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.
