Default Books that help you change your life

Has anyone ever read something like that? Im looking for suggestions for books like this.
I have a few things I would love to settle things in my life so I can move on and be a better person all around. Sorting things out would be a great thing for me now so I can focus on my goals better.

Also, if anyone has ever been through something like this what did you do about it?
you live like an ivy vine

    I hear ya girl!!

I really liked Dan Millman's "Way of the Peaceful Warrior" books for spiritual type stuff (there are 3 in the series now).

I LOVE "Passion, Profit and Power" by Marshall Sylver for a get off your arse and do it book.

I have read both books several times now.

Anthony Robbins "Get the Edge" cds are also quite good

Blessings on your journey btw TigersMilk xo

This may, at first, seem a bit unorthodox but, then again, what *is* orthodox? lol I'm typically attracted to non-fiction approaching metaphysical. One that I really liked and helped me overcome a few of my own personal blocks was "The Psychic Pathway" by Sonia Choquette. It's not exactly as it immediately sounds and then it is. In a nutshell, it's about self-awareness - which is priceless. I'd say about 1/3 of the book covers personal blocks and overcoming them.

My thing was "answers, answers....must have them.....*now* - must be fulfilled....yadda yadda" Usually that took the form of....I must be with the wrong partner or wow I need a partner (lol). But I kinda felt that my being happy really had nothing to do at all with anyone else (right on, right?) I even spent some time in the Mormon church...(please no one throw stones jk) - I was just desperate for inner resolution. As a result of time spent thinking, reading several books (one mentioned above and many websites on quantum consciousness - btw anyone wanting a nice basic explanation on quantum mechanics - I'd recommend "The Dancing Wu Li Masters" by Gary Zukav and there are a ton of great websites out there....just google babay )

Gotta run right now but I'd love to chat about this more. PM me if you want to.

    A New Beginning 1 & 2 - Jerry and Esther Hicks

It's a "channeled" book on how to properly use the Universal Laws of Creative Attraction. How to become more fulfilled, happier, and have more peace within. It's a great book series and have pretty much become my personal bibles.

I also agree with "Way of the Peaceful Warrior", "The Psychic Pathway", and "The Four Agreements". Another book series I highly recommend (always better if you can find/form a group to engage in the lessons of the books on a regular basis) is "The Artist's Way" and "Vein of Gold".

There are so many other books out there that are good...but the ones above are my personal favorites. Happy evolving!!

"The things they carried" by Tim O'Brien.

O'Brien is a Vietnam vet who paints a brutally honest picture of what Vietnam was like for the men who fought. He holds nothing back... and artfully combines his real life experiences with fictional characters, leaving the reader constantly wondering "was that a real or fictional experience??"

My step-dad is a vet who was a POW for eighteen months in Vietnam. Reading this book truly helped me to understand him and all he had been through on a much different level. "THe things they carried" forces readers to take a step back, look at their lives, and realize that things really aren't that bad.

I'm a sucker for a good war novel - but this one, by far, is the best I have found. (Just writing this makes me want to go back and re-read it)

"Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. The most amazing book I have ever read; it really teaches you about drive and success. I wish I had read it ten years ago; I'd be filthy rich by now.

I just saw this thread today and it's so weird because I just got done reading a couple of books that definitely got me thinking about my life.

"Journey of Souls" and "Destiny of Souls" are the titles. They are both by the same author (although I can't think of the name at the moment) Destiny is the sequel to Journey, but you don't need to read them in the same order. Actually I think if you only read Destiny that should be okay. The author basically just expanded and reexplained the topics covered in the first one.

It's non-fiction written by a doctor who worked with patients through hypnotherapy and he talked to them about things they remember from between their lives. It's about what happens when we die, where we go, the people we see, lessons we learn, and about our souls' choices for our physical lives. I just thought it was amazing and empowering and it just really made me take a second look at the way I view my life and it's meaning. I just thought these books were awesome.

I love Brian Tracy's tapes. Are you just getting the free newsletters or are you doing the life coaching series? If you are doing the coaching, please let us know how it is helping you!

Colleen, your the first girl who knows what I’m talking about! *hugz*!! lol

At my old company, we HAD to take the corporate strategies and management seminars. Now I'm hooked, my favorite is the military strategy he uses, it can be applied to so many aspects of business and life.

I have his books, listened to most of the cassettes, attended seminars, and now since I retired from the board room to enter the stage lol.. I just get his emails! LMAO, their free, full of great info, motivation and technique.

    Do you get them? http://www.briantracy.com/

I like The Power of Now by Ekhart Tolle which I have on tape. It concerns gaining awareness of how your mind works against you, focusing on past and future issues, while avoiding the present moment, which is the only moment that we have control over and can do anything about. It's more involved than that, but difficult to sum up in a few words. I've been listening to it and a couple of other tapes of his that I got cheap at the Half Price bookstore. The guy has a really soothing voice with a cool German accent, so it's not difficult to listen to either. I like any sort of self help tools that help you focus and control your mind, which I find very difficult.

Lightbulb Re: Books that help you change your life

These books did me a world of good, personally

    • Alcoholics Anonymous; for the obvious reason (I'm surprised I didn't grow gills) but also because it contains some plain old good advice for how to handle life in general and evolve spiritually. I haven't drank in nearly 4 years, but I still find life situations cropping up that are addressed in this book.
    • In The Meantime- Iyanla Vanzant; I cannot recommend this highly enough. After reading this book, I finally got rid of my abusive crackhead husband, and began showing myself the love I deserved.
    • The Artist's Way
    • He's Just Not That Into You- Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo; this should be required reading for every female in the entire world. It would save years of bullcrap and aggravation. It's written in a humourous style, but the hometruths in it are undeniable. I am going to buy several copies and just leave them in the dressing room at work.
    Happy Reading!

Just recently sat in the airport, bought a book "Bitch in the House" (can't remember the author, don't have the book next to me at this moment). It's a New York bestseller, where 26 women from different backgrounds, different ages, beliefs have written a short essay about the way they cope with modern life and society, juggling marriage, sex, kids, career, family.Very educational, and could not put it down.Maybe not changed my life, but very inspirational.
