Post making sense of clothes sizes

I've been looking at dancer clothes sites and some of the size charts don't make any sense. One matched thier sizes to inches in waist, hip, bust and then had dress sizes at the end. Only thing is my waist measurements are bigger than the measurements they have but I wear that size clothes. Do dancer clothes run smaller? According to measurements on one site I should be a size 18, and I know I'm not that big. I take a 14 regularly. I tried to add a sample of one of the charts but it got messed up, so I'll try to explian what I'm asking.

My waist is 37" but the chart says The equivalent dress size for 14 is a 28-31. Unless I'm doing my measurements incorrectly. I know my bust measuerment is 34-36 because of my bra which shows as a med. I measure my waist on the actual waist where my belly button is and my hips on the hip bone. Even if I go by the smallest part of my waist that's a 35. I don't want to order something and have it be to small, and there's no shops that carry this stuff around me that I know of except maybe one. I haven't actually been in it so I don't know what they have. I live around Ft. Lauderdale if anyone knows of any shops around that area. SHould I just go by euivalent dress size or go by the measurements. Any help will be appreciated.

There is a lingere shop next to (or a couple doors down) from Solid Gold. I think the street is called N. Federal Highway.

go by your measurements not the sizes.

    sizes ALWAYS vary.

sometimes I'm an 8 sometimes I go up to an 11.

if they provide a conversion chart that's the way to go.

if your waist is a 37 then your bust is definitely bigger than 34-36--go by the measurement around the fullest part of your breasts, not the band size of your bra.

I have the same complaints. My measurements are 32-23-35. I weigh less than 100 lbs. A size 0 in the Juniors section hangs on me like a Roman robe. Sizing is stupid. According to most charts, I should wear a 4. 35" hips are apparently considered wide, although Kate Moss's hips are that size.

Dear clothing manufacturers, size your items honestly. And one size fits most does not fit everyone in the 90-160lb range. It's more like a 110-140 range.

So very true Lizette...I range from a size 8 to a size 11
in dancer clothes Im like super sized...ahh...it irks me.

Best way to find your size is always go by what you measure. Ive learned to do that..the hard way.

I'm still baffled how a waist of 28"-31" is a size 14. 28" is very slender. A size 14 is common size and is definitely not a plus size.

I hate sizing charts. I get mad every time I look at them. It's like they're telling me I'm fat.

That's why I usually by clothing in the store cause clothing can vary so much even within the same brand.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.
