    Default Indoor Tanning Lotion

Can anyone tell me if the "tingle" or "hot" lotions work better than the regular stuff? I tan in an upright (10 minutes) and use Supre brand lotion (it's what they carry) and it seems to help but I kinda hit a wall color wise and would like to be a smidge darker. Aaaaanyhow I was wondering if the tingle would do the trick!

    Thanks in advance!

if you have a base tan already and hit a plateau with acclerator you are using, a tingle would help get you to the next level.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

Yes,the tingle will definately help you get darker. What happens with tingle lotions is that reddening factor breaks the very fine, superficial capillaries to your skin and increases circulation and thus, helping the UV rays reach deeper into your skin.Only use tingle lotions AFTER you have developed a base tan.

start with a mild tingle if you have never used tingles before. I always test new tingles like a little patch on my thigh at home before I use it at the salon, just see if I react badly to the tingle.

Ok, while we're talking about tanning, I have a question and didn't really see the point of starting a new thread...

I've just recently starting tanning (maybe a month ago) and I'm super pale but I've started to develop a bit of colour. I've been going in the lowest level, cheapest bed they have. I started at 7 minutes and now am doing 15. Anyway, I just wanted to know what the difference is between all the different beds (other than the obvious stand-up vs. lay-down). Does going in the more expensive bed actually make your tan darker?

Yes,because the better beds have more of the UVB rays, which give you more of a brown tan.The base beds have more UVA,and those give you more of a red or burning tan.My best suggestion is after you have established a base tan with the base beds, upgrade to the better beds. They are better for your skin.

I personally have the best luck with the medium pressure beds but the *best* for me is a medium bed with these new spiral lights. I get a beautiful brown.

And yes.. the tingles get me *very* brown... but I can only handle the mild tingle. I am a wimp.

izzy- start at the highest level.. yes i know they are expensive, but they work. I was pale pale a month in a hlaf ago and now I am TAN. I use Carribean gold tingle lotion, I don't know if it seems to work, but I am tan. I would like to get tanner though, but you HAVE to start in the highest level even if you burn!! Believe me =)

Even though you might get dark in a HP or the highest level you are not getting to your darkest potential tan. That's why you need to have a base tan via base beds or some medium pressure beds. High pressure beds emit mostly UVA rays and little to no UVB rays. The low pressure beds have a higher amount of UVB rays. Having said that, UVB rays stimulate melanin production, while UVA rays oxidize (darken) the melanin.

There is a variance among high pressure beds as to how much UVB, if any, is emitted. For instance, some hp beds can emit up to 2% UVB rays and do allow for melanin production, so you'll see results each time you tan. Some hp beds emit around 99.9% UVA rays, and the lack of UVB means there won't be any new melanin production. So after your melanin produced from previous tanning sessions are oxidized, you'll need to use a bed with UVB to continue to see result,so you will still need some UVB rays to build up the darkest tan.

After getting past the HP plateau using Tan Aid will help. The reason behind this is because Tyrosine (in Tan-Aid) will not be effective in melanogenesis unless it gets enough of the different UV rays. Tyrosine + UV rays + Oxygen all have to bond for the process of melanogenesis. If some of the UV rays aren't present melanogenesis won't optimally occur.

In plain english: use low pressure beds to get a base tan then after first plateau in base bed move to a HP bed to break the base tan plateau. You will hit a plateau in the HP eventually, to combat this take tan aid.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

I used a low/mild level tingle/hot lotion today and all I can say is wow. Much more effective than the usual tan accelerator I was using. Im'a happy camper.

Okay..this is what I use whenever I tan indoors...: Sexy u Cool Bronze..this is really good if you don't want that "burning sensation" that tingles cause...I don't like the tingles as you can tell..lol. But you can buy this at Sally Beauty supply for little of nothing and it works great...I like Sally Beauty Supply anyway...It has great cosmetics..great tanning stuff...what more could a girl ask for?
