wow!!!
Great story!!!
That guy is gonna be soooooooooooo rich after this is all said and done.
Dammit... I got frustrated and pissed just reading that.
When, oh when, will morons stop breeding.![]()

interestingly enough, at a club I used to work at they would give the guys change in $2 bills. I would come home with lots and lots of $2 bills. I couldn't believe what a pain in the ass it was to try to actually spend them. I'm shocked that there are cashiers in our country that don't believe that it's legal tender. dumbasses.
Just take em to the bank like everyone else or...if they're in good condition, save em for a rainy day. You never know what someone on E-Bay will pay for them.
wow, what a bunch of jerks! my club has a regular who tips the girls in $2 bills. havent had a problem spending them a few at a time. most of the cashiers i give them to take 1's out of their own pocket to have them.
"RIP THE SYSTEM"
From the article:
For Baltimore County police, said spokesman Bill Toohey, “It’s a sign that we’re all a little nervous in the post-9/11 world.”
That part made me really mad. It seems like 9/11 is used to justified everything these days. Are the Baltimore County Police so dumb that they think terrorists would sneak into this country and then try keep a low profile by using currency most Americans rarely see? Oh, wait, they arrested a guy for paying his bill with $2 bills, I guess they are that dumb.

Two dollar bills simply should not circulate.

I have had silver and gold dollars refused at stores.
I love the "change in $2 bills" at the club idea. I am going to run that by the manager tonight. We can always cash them in and recycle them at the end of the night!

I think the reason the stores don't like the $1 coins is that they don't have a slot for them in their cash registers.
I know a girl that worked at a club once where they started giving out change in $2 bills. She said they stopped after a while though due to complaints from customers. Also, it might not be too good for the married customers..."honey, where'd you get all these $2 bills?".

That is so ridiculous. It also made me mad just to read this.

That is too funny... I live around there, how did I miss that story. Personally I like $2 bills. I save mine and I use them to tip bartenders when I go out. I've never had anyone refuse them (or complain). I can't believe that a situation like this could get that out of hand. How many idiots were working there that day? And then to add insult to injury, the police actually locked him up. And noone in the police station was smart enough to realize it was still a mistake... They brought in the secret service... Are you fucking kidding me???
UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

My Godparents sent me $2 bills for my birthdays when I was little. I think the Yellow Rose in Austin was the only place I've gotten one since.
Anyways, about Best Buy... (rant coming)
I used to love to shop there, now I only buy CD's, DVD's, or software there, and in fact dread ever going into one of their stores. Here's why:
1. If you've ever bought a computer package here, they'll make you'll feel as though you're utterly stupid and try to pad your order with crap you don't need (USB cable, UPS, fancy printer paper, extra ink cartridges, even try to sign you up for Internet service) then when you try to say to the sales clerk, "I already have all this at home", they snap into this "we don't work on commission" complex. Uhh, never again.
2. Lots of stuff advertised in their Sunday circulars seem to have a fantastic price. Then you get to the store only to find that price only comes into effect once you've sent in about six mail-in-rebates (okay, only five, I'm exaggerating). which must be filled out to precise instructions written on a quarter mile of register tape to ever get your rebate back.
3. Whenever you buy a gadget at BB, they always try to upsell you the benefits of a Performance Service Plan (i.e. extended warranty). I could maybe see the benefits of this on an expensive camera, but they've actually tried to sell me PSP's on:
1.) A $25 Playstation controller
2.) A $30 wireless optical mouse.
I guess they needed that extra $5 bad.
4. You can't purchase anything at the register without the clerk asking you if you'd like to subscribe to Entertainment Weekly and some other magazine that slips my mind at the moment. If I wanted to subscribe to a magazine, I'd go to Borders, buy an issue and fill out one of cards inside. Now check out my purchases please! Since when did Publisher's Clearing House get BB to do their dirty work for them.
5. Oh, and like a lot of places, they've gotten into the credit card business. I guess they've forgotten what they used to sell, so they've decided to sell everything else.
And what's sadder is, all that upselling, and its still better than going to Circuit City. Ugh.![]()

Ditto to Meea and Destiny. Also, I think it would be a good idea to write to the company and pitch a huge fit over this. Absolutely unacceptable.
The excuses are lame-o...the customer service sucks...write and complain!! And, then boycott.

I wonder why this man insists on paying for purchases with $2 bills. That's a little strange.

I don't think it's strange. They still make $2 bills, it's not popular tender, but I LOVE $2 bills. The strange thing is that people don't realize that they're legal tender...I used to have a huge stash of $2 bills stuck away in my lingerie drawer...I've since spent it, but I think I'll go get some more. heh

What I found strange was that he used only the $2 bills to make his purchase. There was this guy that used to come into my old club and he tipped me with $2 bills. He was a sweet guy.

excuse my n00bishness when it comes to US tender....but...
you guys have one dollar bills, two dollar bills and five dollar bill right....why is everyone so suprised at someone paying in $2 bills? why are the often mistaken as NOT legal tender?
ive payed for boost juice ( $12 total) in 5,10,20, and 50 cent coins muhahaha but we gave the girl and extra $5 for wasting her time counting it all. she was stoked. ha i woulda been pissed off tho.
LOL...OTB, he was just doing it to piss the people off...for telling him one thing and then calling him and threatening the next day. When I was dancing (or even bartending) and I wanted to piss someone off...I would go shopping with all of my singles...and pay $90 in groceries/etc with singles...and maybe a few quarters. Heh.
Because it's not a popular bill. We have it, but it's hardly ever used.Originally Posted by mermaidnz

There will be people who wonder if this is an urban legend run amok. , under a Taco Bell heading, but referring to this incident, as it was apparently was first reported in the Baltimore Sun. It isn't claimed to be an urban legend.
For whatever it's worth, my local Best Buy has always given me pretty good service and doesn't push the annoying warranty offers any more than any other tech shop does nowadays. They put their nuts in a vise on this one, though. I don't know that the guy will "get rich" off of it (his comments bear a hint of litigation), but there's some potential wrongful imprisonment and such claims that are possible. Not to mention the PR nightmare, as reflected in here.

My 10 year old son loves the $2 bills i bring home from work. We were at the mall the other day and he wanted a soft pretzel from Auntie Anne's, and he wanted to use his own money. Fine. So he paid with a $2 bill, and the girl behind the counter just stared at it for about 10 seconds....then she used one of the counterfeit pens on it, then she stared at her drawer for another 10 seconds or so....until finally sighing, turning around and asking her co-worker where she was supposed to put it. "Under the 1's" was his reply. I thought it was kinda funny at the time. This Best Buy thing is complete bullshit, though....and I'm willing to bet it's gonna cost them in a big way, litigation-wise.
waffles are just pancakes with little squares on them.
When I know I'll be going to a SC (which is rare, it's usually a spur of the moment thing), I'll get a stash of $2 bills and use them for stage tips.
$2 bills should be better circulated, they're a pretty convenient bill to pay for things with. How many things cost between 1-2 dollars? A lot of stuff does.
