    Sad Embarrassing Underarm Problem

All right so I have this little "problem".

I started using this clear gel deodorant a couple of months back, I think Arrid. And then I started getting this itching. And my underarm started rashing a lot, and became tinged a dark brown. I was quite embarrassed about it. Stupidly, I kept using the deodorant. I didn't want to tell anyone, and I didn't want to stink...so I kept using it.

Eventually I told my mom, whom I live with. She took me to the doctor, who gave me a hydrocortisone valerate cream, and told me to use it every day for a week. I did so. The itching stopped, and there's no more bumpy rash...one problem, though. My underarms are still tinged dark brownish black. I'm African American, but honey-toned, so it's really obvious and annoying. I've used the cream past the time I'm supposed to, hoping it would go away. I can't tell if it's disappearing, and I'm afraid it'll carry over into my stripping. Has anyone had this problem...

    ...ever??

No but Ive never liked how I have black hair in my armpit.....so I exfoliate...but I dont really have to do it often and I used to do it before shaving. I also tan with my arms up so all the "sun" gets in there to make me all evenly sexy.
Im pretty much a mulato....though I am honey/caramel colored w/ yello undertones. There musta been somethin that gave you a freaky rash in there....hmmm.....I guess sometime in random rash cases its trial and error.
Stop using the cream..I had to use something like that for excema as a child and sometimes it can have adverse reactions because most of the time its a topical streroid. Some sensitivity to the sun can occur or it can make your skin thin. I mean you wont just "pop" open or anything but long time use for something strong is never good.....ask for a lower dose if you think you still need it.

I'm not sure of the underarm details but darker skinned ethnicities are generally more prone to hyperpigmentation -- as an estheitician I see a lot of it on the face in the form of dark scarring from pimples. While it's sometimes irreversible you can usually correct it with a lightening cream containing kojic acid and some hydraquinone. However, PLEASE talkt o your doctor before using hydraquinone as it can cause liver toxicity if used in too high of doses or for too long of an extended period of time. Good luck!

You would be much better off talking to the doctor about it. Since we have no clue as to what/why/how that happened, we can't really give you any viable advice. Talk to your doctor.
