Have you ever been ticketed / arrested at your club? If yes, what were you doing, and were you on the main stage, main area, or VIP? Did you fight it? Also, what city did you get ticketed? Sorry for bringing up up a depressing subject...
Yes
No

not at my current club but i did get a ticket at one club. i was giving a normal dance.

NO
On two separate occasions I was present during girls being ticketed.. one time I was actually naked in VIP giving a dance!!!!
The cop came up looked me in the eyes and said: "finish what your doing and get out of here, everyone else stays“
Every single person in there (customers included) were fined except for my custy and I.
I WAS SO RELIEVED and honestly felt blessed to have walked out of there mind you I was doing nothing illegal.
I think he let me go b/c 1) I was at the very front while everyone else was way in the back and corners. 2) I was not grinding or anything 3) I was actually “DANCING”, and my custy had his hands down.
The girls who were fined: dismissed (clubs lawyer represented them)
Recently, a few more girls were fined (different club) $2,500!! Auch. I wasn’t in VIP. It was undercover cops and one of them was really hot! This club makes you sign a waver stating you will not do any illegal acts etc. Therefore the clubs ass is covered. Irrelevant of what goes down, girls are fined, club is NOT.
Even though this is not scientific, it feels good to see that most responses are "No". Does anyone know if a charge for prostitution is the norm, or if there are lesser charges they come up with? Thanks

Its NOT prostitution, it’s a misdemeanor. These girls just got a ticket, not arrested or anything of the sort.
Sorry, couldn’t tell you exactly what the “charge” was but its minimal.

marluv, note that I'm in Canada!
How does a stripper get fined? I don't get it. What do you have to do to get fined? I can understand the girl blowing guys in VIP but just for a LD you can get fined?
Yea, if not for prostitution, then what is the offense on the ticket? Do tickets become a permanent record? How is Canada different from the US?

madcap, Yes, girls are getting fined. Like I said, I was in VIP and did not while everyone else did..
?? I dunno.. I thinks it’s a bunch of BS and police time should be used wiser to chase after criminals NOT strippers!

It’s a sexual misconduct ticket or something like that.. it is NOT a prostitution charge, that I know for sure. I do believe it stays on file, but its not a criminal offence (I hope) I’m really not sure about that one hun.. you just have to have a good sexy, appealing technique to your dancing that doesn’t cross the line.Originally Posted by marluv
US and Canadian Bylaws vary from state to province… Lap dancing is technically illegal in most of our areas.. You have to be careful on “How” you dance.. don’t grind, when sitting on a custys lap.. sit on ONE leg, don’t straddle him. For example here there is a law that say’s if you are touching the custy (what ever that means) you must have 2 feet on the floor.
Like Melonie said, ( I think it was her) don’t work ANYWHERE that has heat form police, government or local groups!

Almost always, if dancers are 'ticketed' it is for violating a local anti-dance club ordinance which specifies that dancers must maintain X distance from the customer, which specifies that dancers must have Y degree of coverage with their bottoms, or some such city/county specific restrictions. Originally these local anti-dance club ordinances carried the legal penalty of a 'violation' (same as traffic tickets) which did not involve the possibility of jail time just a fine, and which did not go on their criminal record. However, recently some cities have upped the penalties to a misdemeanor, bringing higher fines, the possibility of jail time, and a black mark on their permanent record into the picture. Local ordinance charges are very difficult to 'beat' in court, since local cops, local DA's and local judges essentially run the whole show.
Girls who are arrested rather than ticketed usually face a charge of breaking a state law i.e. prostitution, lewd conduct or state liquor law. These charges are always misdemeanors carrying high fines, the possibility of jail time, and a black mark on their permanent record. Ironically, these state charges are actually easier to 'beat' than local ordinance charges since they can be appealed in a higher state court. However it can cost a ton of money to actually do so.

I was wondering when you would jump in Mel, sometimes I wonder what we would do without you!
If you ever consider becoming a lawyer or activist, you have SW on your team for sure!
*muah*

That won't ever happen .... because I'm basically too honest of a person to live with myself after doing what lawyers and activists have to do to be successful !If you ever consider becoming a lawyer or activist, you have SW on your team for sure!

Also, you're absolutely correct that the smartest thing a dancer can do to avoid being busted is to make it a point to find out which way the political winds are blowing in regard to particular clubs versus particular city politicians, cops and/or conservative citizen groups. The fact is that any dancer working in any US club today can probably be busted for breaking some local ordinance or some state law if the local cops and DA want to be 'creative' enough in pressing charges.

Mel, you have the brains, beauty, knowledge and a bunch of strippers to back you !
With that alone, you could make a serious impact.

I appreciate the kind words, but WRONG. Particularly where local cops, DA's and judges are concerned, the letter of the law and/or actual facts of the case often take a back seat to a political agenda. This might be considered a good thing where environmentalism or gay rights are concerned, but it's definitely not such a good thing where exotic dancers are concerned. With that alone, you could make a serious impact.
What ? Pass up the chance to see beautiful nude girls and get some 'free' lap dances, and instead have to get dirty and maybe shot at ?I thinks it’s a bunch of BS and police time should be used wiser to chase after criminals NOT strippers!

Call me an idealist but a powerful intelligent (incredibly breasted) woman can have a great impact. It really is corrupt that many of the laws ARE gray and dancers pay the price.Originally Posted by Melonie
I know! When girls were ticketed at my club the under covers got dances! WOW, and I must repeat, one was really HOT, who could blame the girl for giving him a great dance! (joke)Originally Posted by Melonie
I have seen dancers and the customers taken out in cuffs. I also have heard others talking in the back about tickets they have recieved while working the clubs. At times i always thought it was a random thing, or the police new some of these ladies from the streets, because i have been damn lucky, and seem to have danced in a much more "dirty" fashion, and never got a ticket.

Sadly yes, I have been arrested at work for violation of a law I did not even know existed. It was a city ordinance regulating costume/ skin exposure .... I plead no contest (along with half a dozen other dancers) was given $100 fine + court costs , which the club paid in addition to all of our bail the night of the arrest.
Example of discrimination (Imho):
the only prudent way to treat Islamics in the US and western europe today is along the same vein as Russians and Eastern Europeans were treated during the 'cold war' days - with some degree of suspicion warranted until proven otherwise !

here in detroit the charge is for prostitution.
