So many of us go through product after product, trying to find stuff we like and things that actually do what they are supposed to do: concealers that won't stain our outfits or our customer's pants, eyelash glue that doesn't give out in the middle of the night but still comes off when you need it to, etc. I thought it'd be interesting if we compared notes! Below is a list of the stuff I cannot live without, the stuff that really does for me what it claims, and a list of things I've tossed because it's pointless.
Skin care that works for me:
-Anew deel crease serum & the Line and Wrinke Corrector actually helps make my skin look years younger, as does the face cream (no, I don't sell Avon)
--Aveeno positively radiant lotion. Not greasy, nicely moisturizing, adds brightness.
--Aveeno sensative skin shave cream. Helps prevent those darn razor bumps.
--St. Ives oatmeal lotion helps my chronically dry feet.
Skin care that did nothing for me at all:
--TAlmay Kinetin line

Hair Care:
--John Frieda Sheer Blonde Shampoo. I've used salon shampoos, but this seems to work just as well for keeping my naturally blonde hair shiny and not brassy.
--Good, ceramic flat and curling irons. Splurge on salon-quality ones, like the E, and you'll never need another. Your hair will really, seriously thank you.
--Goldwell Color Glow Color finish. Nice gloser and smoother, weightless. Unf, you can only get it from Goldwell-authorized salons.
--Loreal Out of Bed Studio Line texture cream. Great for those messy curls!
--New Image well-composed body and shine cream, for my baby-fine straight hair. Adds volume, not weight. Only takes a dab!
--Goldwell finishing spray for straight looks. Aussie finishing spray for curls. WIthout the aussie, my hair is straight again in minutes.
Hair Care that didn't work for me:
--Pantene for blondes. Really weighted my hair down after about 3-4 days.

Cover-ups, makeups, etc. that I can't live without:
--The tiny beard comb I stole from my hubby's beard-trimming kit. This thing is the best eyebrow brush EVER!
--Sally Hanson Airbrush legs. Really diminishes bruises (which I get from pole-work) and spider veins. Also works to soften stretch marks. I don't have the latter, but know several women who do and it really improves the looks. LET IT DRY, though, so it doesn't come off. It's really transfer resistant if you do that.
--Wet and wild metalic liners. I use the blue--just a touch, above my black powder that I use as liner, for some "umph."
--Black powder liner. Esp. as I get older, I don't like the look of the harder, liquid liners--they make me look older. I use Jordana black powder to line the corners of my eyes, and am often told my eyes are the reason my clients keep coming back. They never have any idea how old I am, and I often get pegged as a college girl (I am 32!)
--Lash Architect mascara, in Nior Black. It's the only thing I ever use. Stays nicely, comes off when you wash your face, and looks bold but not spidery.
--Estee' lauder eye makeup brushes. These are key for me. I don't use a lot of makeup, but what I do use I want to be effective. I am a thrifty gal, but splurge here because they last and apply eye makeup evenly and well.

Tanning and body image productsthat works for me:
--Neutrogena Instant Bronze gel, without added bronzer. Goes on smoothe and even. Leaves a natural tan. Smells reasonably decent.
--Endless summe self-tanner. Works well, hate the smell, though.
--Gel/acrylic toenails. OMG have these made a difference in my feet! I have full sets on both feet, as years of dancing in 6" heels have really worn away my outer two toenails. I get tons of compliments, and all the foot-lovin' custys come to me :-) Plus, I look great in sandals outside work.
--High-pressure, 30-minute tanning beds. These are no-burning ray beds, and you only go once a month for 30 minutes. You won''t burn regardless of skintype. Not a good way to build a tan, but a great way to keep it. I hate tanning, so this minimizes my time there if I have to do it.
Tanning , etc. that haven't worked for me:
--Mystic tan (spray-on tan). It made me REALLY splotchy. It's likely because of my adrenal problems, which can make the skin do weird things. That said, self-applied self-tanners have never been a problem. Since a few other ladies I know have the same problem, it may also be that the local places that do it just stink. I know other women on the boards here have had great luck, and I'd be willing to give it another go in a different city.
--Metabolife, DIet Energy, and herbal Dexatrim. No added bonuses to my tone, weight loss, or energy that two cups of green tea didn't give me.

And those are what I can think of right now. Can't wait to see everyone else's!
