Default Why aren't there more female club owners ?

Since our industry is one where the women out number the men. It makes you wonder why there aren't more female club owners !
Do you think we are so burnt out by the whole stripclub scene that once we finally decide to quit dancing, we want nothing more to do with the industry ? Just purely a lack of funds to invest ? Or is it deeper ? What are your thoughts ? Also if there were more female club owners how would the industry be effected ?

This is a good question for Melonie... exactly what would opening a club entail?

The list is long and detailed as far as what it takes to open a club. I know this because I am in the middle of doing just that. There's a lot of things, such as liability, health and workman's comp insurances that a lot of folks don't even consider, but which are expensive (even if dancers don't get these, full-time managers, bartenders and other staff do). The hardest part for me is the financing--it's EXPENSIVE, and banks don't really like to give out loans to 1) open a strip club and 2) to a stripper (which is even harder than standard self-employment), regardless of good credit. Currently, my partner and I are working to find investors.

So, ladies, when I open my club I hope I'll see a good many of you there! It'll be a good place to work, run by a business-minded (and educated) ex-stripper.

I would think the process of getting business permits would be a pain in the ass, too, since the politicians are always fighting over where they can be located.

I've thought about opening my own club after I retire. For me, in my area, the biggest problems are financing, liquor license approval, and zoning restrictions.

Women don't have the connections to investment capital and because of the chauvinistic society we live in aren't as able to effectively "bribe" the right male politicians and cops to keep the heat at a minimum.

The clubs women do own are smaller town hands on operations.

Men that own large sophisticated looking clubs are business tycoons anyway, and most women who came up the ranks of this business are raising families and are not in the right circles to be taken seriously when asking for investment capital for major players.

A dancer like Melonie would be one of the rare ones that could possibly be taken seriously enough and have the worldly business knowledge to enter this business as an owner of a more popular string of clubs in major cities.

Maybe some of us should just brainstorm what it would take to buy and run successfully a group of popular high volume clubs in major cities such as Tampa, Miami, Phoenix, Tucson, Cleveland, Dallas, Indianapolis, Austin TX, Houston, just to name a few cities.

Can someone research clubs for sale, post them on here and on paper we can collectively figure out ways to buy them without being undercapitalized? Then we have to learn how to bribe the right people into staying in business.

Thanks Tina..I did a bit of research when I was in Houston. A guy friend and a few others purchased a couple small clubs. I would prefer to buy a small club myself and the Midwest doesn't sound too bad. I have always wanted to live on a large patch of land.
I am going to have to do more research.
As I honestly think more women owners would help our industry in the long run.
