Default shoes - not wearing chunky heels ok?

    Hi!

I really hat chunky platforms and much prefer the look of 5-6 inch stilettos. Can a stripper get away with not wearing the chunky shoes?

    Thanks!

um, most strippers won't wear the clunky shoes. stillettos are where it's at, baby! 6" minimum here.

most girls who wear the chunky ones do so because they can't walk in the stillettos or because they don't find them as comfortable. I think the look of the stillettos is MUCH more attractive.

Wow I am so glad so many people agree with me about the chunky shoes - I thought maybe it was part of the required look but I've always thought it looks cheap whereas the stilettos look sexy and more sophisticated. The chunky ones always make me think of cheap crappy porn or 1992.

    6 inch min?
    Thanks for the advice!
    Why clear heels?

Clear so you won't have a strap around your ankle or a colored platform to cut up the visual length of your leg. Most stripper shoes have a 2" platform or and a 6" heel, (or 3/7 or 4/ so it feels like you are wearing a 4" heel. If you try to avoind the platform and jsut go with a super-high spike heel, you might feel like you are dancing on your tippy toes.

I am a big fan of the cone heels. THey are still elegant looking, but have a bigger heel surface. I have both cones and stilettos, and the cones feel much more stable.

Did anyone else think that she was talking about a stilletto as opposed to a platform shoe? Some platforms have spike heels, but a stilletto is a high heel without a platform--is that what you were thinking of, MD, like this as opposed to this?

I almost never wear anything but a thin heel. This is why I dont wear anything above a 6" heel... then the heels start getting wider as the shoe gets taller. These are my most beloved shoes. Yummeh.

Oooohhhhhh, maybe I misread the OP. Yeah, the platforms are pretty much mandatory, otherwise you're gonna be killing your feet and calves, and the straight stillettos will through your posture out of whack even more than the spiked platforms.

I didn't even think of it without platforms, that would be murder at my club. The stage is very slick and you could break something.
Clear heels also give the illusion that the shoes are part of your feet, you can still tell that they are higher than most heels, but it doesn't look like you are cheating (I call it cheating becaue my shoes make me 6 feet tall.) The colored heels tell you glaringly how high they are.
I don't like cone only because they don't look good in the clubs I am ceurrently working at, but I have seen them work at the different clubs. It depends on the stage and lights. This also goes for the new "bubble" heels.

I personally don't really like the platforms. I am a shoe addict (Dior, Jimmy Choo, ect) and so I go crazy over a sexy stilleto. Wearing platform stripper heels seemed like the most horrifying thing ever. But now, it's just a part of the job, like a uniform. But for now, I'm starting out slow. I bought a pair of clear stilleto Pleasers, roughly 3 inch heel, no platform. Really comfy. And I'm 5'8", no real need for the extra height like some of the girls.

And the shoes at Kystals are really cheap!

I hate the chunky heels as well. They do not look elegant at all. Legs look better in the platform shoes that are at least 6 inches. I prefer the 7-8 inch spike heels myself. I also think that the normal stiletto heels without a platform look tacky. Just my opinion...

I think chunky heels are ugly.

i have to wear chunky heels or wedge platforms (like transmuter boots). i had a bad injury and have arthritis. often i dance in combat boots. i just tipsy around in skinny heels like a weeble-wobble (but i do fall). it's a medical miracle i can walk without orthopedic shoes and a cane. i would wear skinny heels if i could, but i'd need painkillers and walking assistance to do so.

I've bought from Krystel's ALOT. She used to be right in town with me. Anyhow she has great internet sales where she sells stuff for wicked cheap. Nice quality and her customer service is nice.

Sorry - brain cramp, i'd meant to add something to the shoe/heel discussion!

I started in spike heels with platforms, 6 inchers.

I had no issues with balance what so ever. My problem was in my knees. As a former gymnast (9 years) I took a lot of damage to my knees. The thin heels allow too much side to side play in my kneecaps which was causing me major pain problems. The day after I worked the screamed like they were full of glass.

I ended up switching to boots because i'd heard they were far more stable, picked up three pairs, fell in love with my dolly boots because they aleviated all of my knee pain. The only issue was I was limited as to what I could wear with them.

I've since found shoes like these:

They've got a thicker heel but are far more feminine than the boots.

Ah well. I'd love to wear the spikey heels but i'd love to not have my knees make me want to cry even more.

I always found that guys love the platformless stiletto look, but those shoes are very uncomfortable for hours at a time. I do own a few pairs though. Usually with an ankle strap of something.

Oh! Hmmm... I guess it's gotten to the point where, in the business, platforms with spiked heels are called stilletto. Even the catalogues and sites that sell em are using the term. I always think of the original stilletto as a pump anymore. Oops! Well in that case... yes it can be done, not many clubs require a platform that I know of. A lot of old school dancers do it. I work with a Goddess of a dancer who has been doin it for about 20 years and she wears these and the style as shown by Susan. Sometimes I see this style... usually in newer dancers. I dont do it. No platform = owwie feet for me.
