So I know how great cardio is, and I love doing the elliptical machine and often rotate between that and various speeds on the tredmill (often with weights). My question is that I often read that to get a great ass/thighs you need to do 40 minutes on the eliptical/cardio machine. This is a stupid question, but does that mean 40 minutes straight? The machines at my gym have a 20 minute time limit which I could get around most of the time, but I often will just do it for 20 minutes, and get bored. I'll do the tredmill after that for 30-50 minutes, then go back to the elliptical. I need to lose weight and tone up my thighs and butt, so should I be doing something differently?? is 40 minutes straight really that different from two twenty minute intervals?? I try to do a step or toning class in addition to any normal cardio, but they don't offer them mid-day too often.
BTW, I tried a pilates/yoga class and it was the stupidest thing I've ever done. I thought it was the biggest waste of time. I know a lot of people swear by them, but I don't see how that could do anything positive for your body (except, of course the natural benefits from letting yourself relax). Pilates wasn't THAT bad when I had a video, but I still don't really see how I could get results from it. *sigh* Oh well.
