Anybody sell on ebay? What do you sell? How much income do you make? Tell me all you can about it, as I am thinking of doing it.

Good question. I as well have been thinking about selling on eBay again. I have sold a few things here and there over the past few years, and all went great!

I mainly buy now. But would like to sell as i said. My only problem is what the hell would i keep selling to become a eBay power seller. Some of those people make a living off selling items over and over again. Like the wigs from Jenny's Hair Sense, and Hair me Now, i have been watching both of them (as i purchased 2 wigs to see if i wanted to go dark first) and they sell at nice rates, but sooo damn many of these wigs daily.

I have been selling on eBay for a few years now. I sell mostly fine vintage clothes, things from estate sells, my old clothes and shoes or items I just happening to find or get wholesale. Its pretty fun when once you get into it. Plus I get to interact with people all over the world.

To get started selling you'll need a credit/debit card & a checking account.
Also a digital camera is handy too. Search auctions for ways to promote your items.

Well, thanks, Farrah. I would also like to do this. I have a book, called Online Auctions (I didn't know you could do that), it discusses not only Ebay, but the other O.A. places as well...

You're welcome Whirlerz. I have tried to sell items w/ Yahoo auctions too. I really didn't care for the way their webpages were/are set up. Plus its a pain in the ass to learn the whole set-up they have. I spent 45 minutes on hold to speak with a rep.

Although eBay doesn't have a contact number. They do offer "live help", the reps are very knowledgable and can easily lead you in the right direction.

Well, I posted about this in Lounge, but will repeat here. Fox news did a segment on "auction assistants". They take your stuff, list on Ebay, take pictures of, pack & ship for you, etc. There are like 3 places they discussed, in Chicago area. See, I have a really old puter, no camera, etc, so I'm considering this. I think their fee is around 30% for the first $200.00. The news people went undercover, & brought in items to sell. Overall, they seemed pleased w/results.

I sell on eBay sporadically, but it was my full time job back in 2001 before I started dancing full-time. I sold videos of rare 80's TV shows and cookie jars shaped like different breeds of dogs (imported from Hong Kong).

The thing with selling lots on eBay is that you really have to have a focus- just one thing that is your specialty, and that hopefully the market isn't saturated with. One of the easiest ways to do this (imo) is to import cheap goods from overseas. That's what the wig sellers do, for example. Human hair wigs are dirt cheap in Hong Kong (like $7 each at a market, less wholesale), so selling them for cheap on eBay is an easy sell (because they're like$100 retail over here), AND turns a tidy profit.

I've been considering going back into business on eBay too...still trying to figure out what I'd like to sell (the video market is long gone and dog jars broke too much in the mail).

    I'm happy to chat/exchange ideas!

Hi everyone, I just registered here.

I am a powerseller on ebay, and considered a legit business. I had to get my business license and State tax license so that I can purchase wholesale from manufacturers.
It does costs a good amount of money to start, but you can actually make a good profit.

There are lots of people who just do garage sales and thrift stores. They do make profits that way without all the legal cost, but I'm not much on scavenging so I would never know what to buy that may resell at places like that.

I decided to go with something I was more familiar with and since I have been a dancer for almost 8 years I decided to stick with exotic dancer clothing and shoes.

I do have several friends who sell for other people on ebay. They are called trading assistants. If any of you are interested in setting up an account with one of them drop me an email and I can get you more info on their fees, etc...
