    Post Everyday savings

Its hard everyday to not spend money...but ever since I quit my job to overhaul my body its been easier. Im wondering what everyone else does to save money on everyday things such as groceries, gas, and toiletries?
Sometimes I get really chinsy and cut coupons.
I cook at home alot more of course for nutritious reasons.
Do you have any day to day money saving tricks?
you live like an ivy vine
you can only survive by clinging onto trees
    that's your flaw
put down some roots so you can stand on your own

We had an excellent discussion over this last Summer. Lots of potential suggestions.

Well, with the price of gas going up...I now walk everywhere with my daughter (as much as possible). Well, the weather is nice now...but, you know.

I also cut coupons...look for good sales...buy in bulk for the sales and only buy stuff on my list. If it's not on my list...it doesn't get bought...otherwise I'll spend all of our money in one (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7) trips.

I also put money in a "splurge" savings. After there is x amount of $$ in that account, I can go out and spend it on anything I want...but I can't touch other money. It really works to be able to "splurge" and not put yourself in a bad position financially.

Shop at the Dollar Tree-type stores, and Big Lots! (Used to be MacFrugal's.) If you find something you like, you can buy a bunch of it for pennies on the dollar and save money. I found Rusk conditioner and hand-milled glycerin soaps, and great make-up & lotions.
Water down your cleaning supplies. It'll shock you how much of name brand disinfectant is really just coloring agent.
Shop at thrift stores. (Come on ladies, we all share sister/pal/ mom's clothes....And you know how some women buy 3 of the same item and throw 2 sets in the closet. Those items end up in thrift and consignment shops. Besides, if you have a hot rack or can, no one is really looking at your clothes.)
RECYCLE! It would surprise you how much you can get back for aluminum, glass, plastic and paper. In CA we have California Redemption Value, which is an extra charge for buying some materials. So you're really just getting your money back......
Find cheap or free ways to entertain yourself. Go to the library. Volunteer at the SPCA or animal shelter. Babysit someone's kids, and make them clean your house. (Ha.)
Coupons are great. I don't feel bad about using them. Some grocery stores have Savings Cards you can get for free and be eligible for weekly sales.
