Thumbs down Catty things other dancers do to effect your money

I was reading over Lizette's post about the bitch she works with and I thought it would be interesting to see what other catty things girls we work with do, trying to effect our money. Of course, it's ALWAYS best when their little plan backfires on them.....

    My story:

I think I was 20 at the time and was working one of my first shifts ever (mind you i worked about 8 total in a year before figuring it was NOT for me) and sitting with a cool guy. This tall, tan, big faked boobed, platinum blonde girl came strutting over. I wasn't sitting in the guys lap as he had just finished eating, but we were having a good time talking. She grabs his chair, spins it around and pulls it towards her and says "you don't have a dance from HER, she has no tits. Come play with me!" I was floored. He removed her hands from his chair and said no and came back towards me and we both started laughing.

They are so hell bent on being number one and can't stand it when other girls make more money than they do.

They tell customers not to buy dances from anyone but them.

They spread other dancers business around the club.

In clubs where dance tickets are sold they buy tickets with their own money at times just so they can have the most dances.

These kinds of dancers are weak people, and want all the attention directed to them.

Damn! I've been very fortunate. Either that or I am so self-absorbed that I never even notice another girl trying to jack my game. Bitches n hoes, bitches n hoes, LOL!

I don't give the time of day to most dancers, especially younger girls that come in, with the exception of a handful of veteran dancers that are still around. In the past though my old chola self has gotten the best of me to the point where I called girls out and wanted to take it outside right then and there instead of just talking shit for the next couple weeks.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

This is hella funny: there was a Latina dancer named Peaches at my first club. I showed up as a new girl and this bothered her. Right before one of my stage sets, I was checking my makeup and costume in the dressing room mirror. I heard her making snotty, thinly veiled comments about me. I ignored her and went on stage. Coinicidentally, the song I picked for the first of two set songs was "Peach" by Prince. Hey, it wasn't my fault she was being all mean and sh*t.
She also had the nerve to dog me during a stage set. I dogged her right back from the stage (small crowd.) She was such a loser. No one liked her.

There is one girl where I work now who will do half-price dances AND axtraws at the same time. She will go up to guys and say, "I'll do twice as much as her for half the price!" She will also talk shit about you to whomever is listening. (Or at least, whomever is withing earshot and won't tell her to shut up!)

Another girl will wait until you have to go put money in the jukebox (yes, I work in a dive) and then snatch the guy you already had primed and ready for a dance.

On the other hand, I once leanded over the shoulder of a guy who had gotten snagged by BOTH these girls and said to him, "Sweetie, wehn you are done driving the Pintos, there is a Cadillac just around the corner for you."

    Nice one Colleen!!

As far as I remember, the girl who pulled her stunt with me is the only girl to have ever done this. I still see her dancing in Austin from time to time. She has the same attitude she's always had. I don't mess with other girls and they don't mess with me. I pretty much just keep to myself but I won't be rude if they try to have a normal conversation with me!

Actually, ha. A gf of mine danced in SA once. We were there with the owners of the club. We got lots of special attention that night and there were a few who called us bitches when we'd walk by but we just pretended not to hear them and kept making bank!

Oh, here is another good one--So many times, girls will tell me that my best gowns make me look fat. Ususlly I hear this form the only other "gown girl" in the club. Hey, I have a mirror! I know how I look. Usually I say, "Fat or not, this still makes me a TON of money!"

You're allot nice than me. I heard a girl in the dressing room tell a girl that her hair looked like shit (she was going for the "just got fucked" hair and it looked great) and the girl replied "so does your face but I'm not complaining"...........I nearly died laughing.

oh, once there was this girl that I didn't really know that well - everyone else in the club seemed to hate her, but I was pretty neutral. Anyway, this one night these guys came in and she went over and chatted them for like 20 minutes and they refused to buy her a drinka and she sat at the bar next to us (drink commission club, by the way). So, anyway the guys come over to order a drink and I start razzing them (giving guys a hard time is just my way of being charming) doing it nice, not actually mean for like how long it takes him to order the drink, and then I say, "So are you going to buy us a drink?" and he says, "Sure, I'll buy YOU a drink" (guy didn't want to pay $60 in drinks, I guess). Girl flips out. Like FLIPS - "you're just going to buy her a fucking drink cause she asks you to? I went over and was nice...." blah, blah, fucking blah, like seriously yelling and then cried. He looks at me, I look back doing my best to communicate "I have nothing to do with this crazy bitch's behaviour" without actually saying it (because I don't talk shit about other dancers even when they are clearly crazy) pays for my drink and leaves. Then she's all "You know, that's nothing against you...." Really.

Another time, same girl, same club, a guy sat next to me and bought me a drink. Now, granted this girl had been having a hard time at the club - but she was still way exaggerating. Like she thought everyone was constantly talking about her, and I personally never heard anyone mention her. He had met this girl some other time and I, always willing to do the other a good turn (because I myself frequently need good turns) asked him if he would like her to join us, and that I would be delighted to fetch her. He says okay (again, drink commission, $20.00 a drink, so that puts the guy at $50.00 a round including his own. Good customer, right? Enough to share, you might think? No. Apparently not). I go down to get her, lightly touch her arm to get her attention and she does this hugely dramatic flinch (you haven't met me, but I am very non-threatening and I have never in my life hit or threatened to hit someone) and I say "Girl's Name, if you have a couple of minutes would you like to join us for a drink?" She hadn't sold a drink that night. You'd think she'd be happy or grateful, wouldn't you? No. Not so. Goes up to the guy with shiny, teary eyes and puts her arms around him like he's her fucking daddy, he hugs her and says "how are you doing tonight?" and she says (seriously) "I can't talk about it here. People (glance at me) are listening." I just fucking got up, thanked him for the drink and walked away, at which he stopped me, insisted on buying another round (really, when he asked me how I was I told him that since I laid eyes on him my night was picking up. Who would you rather have?) and she spent the next 30 minutes edging me out, until I just got so bored with it I found another customer. And I will tell you that she regretted that stunt later on, when we were sitting with two drunk guys, and I got (through sheer chance) the one that was paying. When we went for champagne room, it was me, my girlfriend, and the two guys. Then I felt bad, and had them buy her a parting drink. But still. No champagne for her.

I had a new dancer come sit in front of the main stage (where I was dancing), turn her back to me, and block the view of the two guys sitting at the table right in front of the stage. Then got mad when one of the guys got up to tip me and invited me to the table to dance for him and his friend. I gave her a big cheesy grin (yes, she was giving me the evil eye) and agreed to stop by (she did end up dancing for one guy though). She and I had a little conversation about it in the locker room (nothing ugly, just "please don't stand in front of the stages, b/c it's rude" kinda deal and now we're cool. She's from a big hustle club and we just don't do that stuff at mine.

Another time, again on main stage & again with the table sitting dead center in front of mainstage, a waitress interrupted a guy who was IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING A STAGE DANCE & TIPPING ME to ask him if he wanted a drink. She was new, so I didn't say anything, but looked at her kind of weirdly and after offering to be me one, placed a quick order. This chick came back again - again waiting until he got up a second time to tip again, interrupted him to get him to pay for his drinks. This time, he turned around and snapped at her "Can't you see that I'm busy? Damn!" and threw money on her tray.

Apparently, this waitress doesn't like me or a couple of other dancers (cuz we're stuck up) - funny she would know anything about me considering she was new, but oh well.

I'm really glad that kind of stuff hasn't happened to me. (at least not yet, I move around clubs alot so I'm sure I'll get some crap soon) I have an awful temper, and tend to snap when seriously disrespected. But they'd have to really go out of their way to piss me off, I've calmed my beast within over the years, LoL.

One of my fave dancers (we'll call her #3) was telling me about how she and my ATF (#1) don't get along because of a dreaded "wardrobe malfunction". It's actually really stupid what these women fight over. One girl in the club sells dancer gear to the others. #3 just got a new sewing maching for her birthday (most UN-Martha Stewart looking chick ever) and makes her own outfits. Well, #3 offered to take orders and make outfits for anyone who was interested. The girl who was selling the outfits got pissed and now the club is pretty much split. This actually made girls who got along fight. How petty is that stupid crap?

I've also had my ATF tell me I am only allowed to buy dances from her and her 3 friends WHEN she's not there. Yeah right.

    More stories!

Another coworker repeatedly hustles customers who are sitting at my stage. When I give her a dirty look, she tips me.

Yesterday, my RIL was in. We were sitting and chatting. She approached him (not me) and asked if he had a cigarette. She proceeded to introduce herself and began the dance hustle. WTF?

"Don't you have somewhere else to be, *takes Satanic tone* sweeeeetheeeaaaaaaaaaaaaart?" I said with a gritty smile.

After she disappeared, I said to RIL, "Interrupting conversations is rude, isn't it?"

Tonight this chick sees me in the champ room with 'her' customer, so she walks in and starts yelling at him for 'cheating' and that he should 'hurry up' to spend some time with her.

What gives? And no, he didn't hurry up ;-)

    Geeze,

What's worse is when other chicks talk mess about somebody else ( co worker) to the customers. To me, that just stinks.

Tacky! What's with this "cheating" thing? Many dancers seem to order their customers not to get any dances from anyone else. Sometimes it works. When it does, it hurts business. When it doesn't, it hurts business.

We all have to get the customers in the habit of buying, buying, buying. If he buys from one girl, he can buy from two and spend twice as much. Never tell a customer not to spend money. He'll turn cheap or get involved in stripper drama he doesn't want.

Speaking of stripper drama, it just never ends, does it? Tacky little girl at work tonight comes up to me while I am chatting w/ potential custy and spins his chair around while I am talking to him and starts the dance hustle. I am just waiting for her to say something, or maybe him, wondering where it will go. She looks over his head and says, "Oh, you didn't NEED him, did you?" I replied, "No, I did not NEED him, but since you are that desperate for somebody to talk to, knock yourself out!" I then wandered off and sold some dances, while she was despertely portesting that seh was not desperate at all. This particular guy was actaully just there fo rthe beer, which I already knew, and did not buy from anybody today. Later she tried to apologise to me. I just said, "What you did is incredibly RUDE; I hope you will NEVER do that to me again." and jsut kept walking, although I could see in pereperal vision that she had stopped walking and was standing there with the WTF look on her face.

She is pulling this sort of thing on all the girls and undercutting us all on dances. She has been in the middle of a cat fight every day this week. It is only a matter of time . . . .

I have been in the biz a while. THe only thing I LIKE about my current gig is the other girls--we are a good team, all work well toghether (mostly) and are all (mostly) professional. I have been there since August am one of the newest girls there. Lots of amaturs come and go, but the real pros are definitley long-term. Since we are all in a small bat toghether, we have no chioce but to keep things civil. I hate, HATE, ***HATE*** it when a new chick comes in and disrupts our groove. Makes everybody pissy, catty, and paranoid.

I consider this protecting our work envionment.

well, ive been pretty lucky too...all the bitches are just bitches to the girl behind closed doors, they never really interfere with dances or anything....well not that ive noticed.

i have had a dancer tell my regular that i was "not at work tonight" when i was booked with dances, and quite busy, stupid thing was, our "private dance room" is actually just anthother part of the club,so everyone can see right in there...she knew i was at work to the liar.

the usual thing ive noticed, is when a chick is talking to a group,by herself, and they all wanna dance with someone, and she says "oh not her, shes _insert word_ take my friend instead" that kinda sucks.

I am sincerely wondering, how can a new person avoid "disrupting the groove" ???
