Sooo.. Yesterday we got knocked offline and our phone got knocked offline too, simply because we added more premium channels to our cable. Since it's all connected, anytime service is done on one thing, the others go all screwy. We finally got the phone back up last night, but it was too late to call for the internet and have them reset it.
Well, I'm sitting there bored last night without my internet and decided to wipe out my harddrive and do a system restore on it, so I could just add things in whenever I wanted them. I backed all of my software and files up on discs. Anyhoo.. The harddrive got wiped out okay, but then I noticed that the System Restore stopped. It came up with some error "Cannot find Ghost.ess". So I take the disc out and see that it's got a HUGE scratch on it. After trying to smooth it over by cleaning and rubbing it with one of those cool cloth thingies, it still won't work. But hey, my Internet's back up! (yay!)
I have my Windows XP disc and figured I'd just install that and all would be well again. BUT... A little bit into the installation, it asks for a previous Windows disc, which I do not have. Everything was all on-board the computer when I got it.
Right now I have to use my Hubby's computer, which I hate. He's got an optical mouse that I can never get the hang of. And I WANT MY COMPUTER BACK! LOL
Is there any other way to install XP without it asking for a previous disc? I'm going to see if my Hubby has a Dell Restore disc at his work, but for now I just want to see if there's anything else I can do, in case he doesn't have one.
Help?
