    Default Internet Fiction

For the longest time, I've been getting stories and tall tales forwarded to me by friends and acquaintances. Most of these seem to be directed at disparaging anything that could be identified as liberal or left leaning. Some of the tales involved items such as “The Stella Awards” for out of control jury awards, “Paul Harvey’s the rest of the Story”, about how Ms Clinton defended some Black Panthers in the sixties, etc. I started researching these on a site called snopes.com, and came to find out most are pure fiction.

I started sending links back to the individuals passing along these pieces of fiction to show what the facts didn’t support the stories and came to realize that they weren’t interested in the truth. Really pissed a few of them off. Guess they thought I was making fun of their dumb ass for believing everything they read.

I know the members of this board are not as gullible as some of my (former?) friends. Does anyone else get tired of receiving bullshit stories from people who just forward everything they receive?

I too am one of those killjoys who will send the offender a snopes.com link disproving their stupid mass emails; you are far from alone, brother.

Sigh . . . people keep sending me that crap, chain letters, and stupid "inspirational" stories, though. Am I not coming off as cynical enough?

Yeah, if it's on the internet, it must be true, right?

Yes I hate that junk. I further hate the people who not only email it but print it out and spread it to everyone they don’t have the emails of. This damn lady would always be bringing printouts of 'this awesome thing I got in the email' that was blatant crap. Not only would she shell it out like it was gospel the few times I'd 'snope' it or just get the actual facts she'd 'no, I don't want to read what you've found'. Persisting in her little world refusing to recognize the BS that she wanted desperately to believe as fact.

snopes.com is great for keeping up with the latest myth's I use it often when I get these e-mail shock stories or rumors.
I also get the same replies as if I offended them my disproving their srories.

I use truthorfiction.com and usually do a reply all to let everyone know who the original sucker was.
