    Afraid of wheelchairs, any stories?

I've been visiting my local club for about a year. at first, some of the girls seemed reluctant to get too close to me at the stage.

The stage is pretty small, approx. 8' x 10', 2' high, with 6 seats along each long side, a padded tip rail just above a shallow shelf (for custy drinks) that runs the lenth of the stage. one end buts up against a mirrored wall (almost a pun there) the other end opens to a 20' x 25' room. at that end, is where the only 2 poles are, one at each corner. there are no seats or tip rail at the front, so guys can stand there waiting to get a bit of attention from the girl up at that set.

YMMV, some guys get what almost amounts to a chiropractic neck adjustment as one dancer (a fav of mine) might throw a leg over each of his shoulders, squeeze his head between her legs, and shake it lika a gallon of cranberry juice!

I never get this treatment cuz the grab bars the girls hang from are too high for it to work with me in the wheelchair. for a while, i felt short-changed due to the circumstances. i no longer feel that way.

after a few months, visiting 2-3 times monthly, most of the girls a this small club (approx 15 girls total work there, 6-8 on any given night), got to know and trust me. now, most of them crawl all over me! it is so awesome!
it's like the wheelchair is a jungle gym and i'm right in the middle of it. Life is soooo sweet! some other custys and a DJ joke about borrowing the W/C.
    they're so jealous .

i've graduated to couch dances now (an excellent value at $20 i might add) the 1 and only couch is on a low platform at the back of the room but the W/C can't get up on the platform, bummer. But it's OK, we do our dances
next to the platform. Who needs a couch? i am the couch! the girls climb all over me . i'm in the W/C cuz of a car accident 20 yrs ago. until recently, i never imagined life could be so wonderful! Thank you Ladies, ever so much. Please share your Wheelchair custy stories, good or not so good.

I did recently have a w/c customer who visited me a few times within a span of a month. He was paralysed from the shoulders down. I was nervous at first however reaslised how much he enjoyed my show.... and each time I danced for him.. the more I was comfortable with him and was able to learn how to use his w/c in the performance... so that I could be close to him... so he could feel my boobies on his face (as like I said he didn't really have any feeling from the shoulders down).

I happened to get him thru chance. I was approached by a friend of his who was there "looking after him". The w/c guy loved my dances and always left with a smile.

I must admit that I am lucky to be one of the few clubs which (imo) have actually thought about wheelchair patrons. There is a special entrance for them since they can't obviously go up the stairs and the whole club is on one level so the w/c patron can have access to the stage, bar and private dance area adequately enough.

I just wish more w/c patrons would frequent the strip clubs as my experience has been nothing but positive

I had one long term customer in a wheelchair. He was awealthy young college student who had an car accident and never gor past it. He's generally pretty high when he comes ina nd stinky and dirty.

Usually I'd avoid a person like this (stinky, dirty, high) but he is so sincere in his hurt that I actually enjoy making him smile. He tips well, thouroughly enjoys himself and is always a gentleman. I don't touch him though 'cause he is still dirty.

thank you nina and GCG, accessibility is always a challenge, no matter where i go.

Stinky and dirty heh Nina, sorry Baby, it is very kind of you tolerate that. I'm so lucky to have been brought up to enjoy bathing! it definitely helps my social life. i live alone and am technicaly a quadriplegic (meaning all 4 limbs are affected) my hands don't work very well but my arms have near normal strength. Everything in life poses an extraordinary challenge so sometime i shower every other day but always before i go to the club. i also shave and wear my best, newest, softest clothes and try not to swin in my Grey Flannel cologne.

i think my hygene is a big part of my success at the club, that and the job i've been at for 12 years. i work extra hours now cuz baby needs a new pair of heels!

As far as sensation, my sense of touch is pretty normal from my chest up. below i can feel the lightest touch, thank you God, but not hot/cold or sharp/dull--nerves are a funny things. try this: right now, if you're wearing a short sleeve shirt, touch your bare arm. notice how it feels not from your finger tips, but from the arm's point of view. now touch your arm on the sleeve--feel the difference? that's how touch on my bare skin feels for me below my chest.

i feel my girls where ever they touch me and although all my parts might not work, my girls provide me with exquisite pleasure!

I have no problems with a wheelchair as long you are spending money on me that's all that matters. Plus I used to have a regular who was in a wheelchair and he let me practice. Now I can do all sorts of flips and twists and stuff. Makes me feel acrobatic.

We used to have the sweetest guy come in out club that was in a wheelchair. I used to treat him just like everyone else, but I did make sure I asked if he was okay with everything I was doing (as you stated using the wheelchair like a jungle gym..lol). I think he moved away though. All the girls loved him and we always made him feel right at home.

    WC,
Thanks for sharing your experience! I have always been curious about how touch feels to a person with nerve damage! Don't be a stranger on the boards!

    Thank you, Katrine.

It brings me joy to think that i made one speck of difference in the way you see things! I'm serious too. Reading all these posts; give/don't give, care/don't care, be myself/be suspicious, have a heart/have a stone---then reading how some of the dancers see things! whoa! sometimes i don't know whether to shit or go sailing.

What a rollercoaster ride this whole SC experience is for me, at times, i feel like i'm soaring to an all-time high--seemingly to defy gravity the next moment i'm hurling towards the pavement with my hair on fire. Where will this journey end? Sometimes i feel as if i've bitten off more than i can chew.

What a wild ride ride! Ahh, the breath of life!

    I just vented, sorry.

I danced once just once for a man in a w/c. He didnt talk me ...I sensed he was nervous. I felt odd b/c I didnt know how to please him and make his dances just as good as guys w/o w/c's. I gave him a few dances and that was it.
When he did speak he was very timid. Maybe next time I can make a guy like that feel just as amazing as you feel now Wheelchair Customer. I just didnt know what to do..he couldnt feel anything from the waist or mid-chest down.

    Thank you TM,

God i love this site! Baby if he comes back that means you made a big difference to him somehow, someway--if only to give him something fun to look forward to! i can't know the least of what would please him, but go to where his feelings are most normal.

it sounds like my situation, normal from chest up. i love when she runs her fingers thru my hair! nibbling on my ear lobe sends me reeling, lightly bite my neck and it's all over! you now own me! i also very much enjoy little signs of affection like when she gently traces along parts of my mustache and beard (van dyke) with her finger. do it to him a moment or two just after the dance ends. he will feel like he's getting a big extra! he will be back for more.

I'm also in a wheelchair out here on the East Coast and have a few stories .

You are right, W/C, the girls are generally hesitant about those of us in Chairs. I have full feeling in all of my body myself (Muscular Dystrophy) and can speak and enunciate well, but still they usually are very hesitant about coming up to me.

As such I don't pursue them, either, really. Sure, I'll tip if I'm at the bar, but I'll never ask them for a dance. I dunno why, I've always been concerned about making them uncomfortable....and the massive machine I sit in is definitely enough to do that. So, again, I don't go after them.

So, I entertain myself as best I can. I'll be sitting with a friend and we'll play our own games, like bet how many girls will come after him and ignore me sitting right next to him. Usually, it's a lot. This is all the funnier due to the fact that he's a fairly poor filmmaker while I, who work at a Bank and have almost no bills, am always loaded in the Clubs.

And the girls wander right by .

That is usually only entertaining for awhile, though, and it does suck to get passed over....but the girls who DO come to me...? I've always had great experiences with them. We laugh our asses off, generally, and I always am sure to say thanks during or after the dance. They didn't have to come to me with all the able bodied $$$$ around....

I've been a w/c user for 20 years. one of the first lessons i learned is to try to make others around me more comfortable, by taking the initiative, breaking the ice, speaking first.

Being around someone using a w/c can be unsettling, painful, even disquieting. To some folks, a w/c reminds them of unhappy times--the illness or death of a loved one, or that ominous place, the hospital. If one should have a bunyon or otherwise tender foot, they most certainly would want to stear clear of a w/c. some might feel like a pedestrian of sorts and view a w/c as a traffic hazard (i see this sort of reaction when i'm tooling thru the mall)

Most people know someone in a w/c, friend, family member, neighbor. Unfortunately, just knowing a w/c user is not always a pleasent experience b/c some wheelers blame the whole world for their troubles, some are very bitter and take out thier frustrations and hostilities on everyone around them. that kind of image is hard to discount and afterward, people could become w/c shy.

That's why breaking the ice is so important! when i find myself in a social situation, which is anytime i'm not alone, i try to normalize the situation. You see alot more w/cs out and about compared to 20yrs ago--mostly cuz of more awarness and better wheelchairs. Most people know to watch their toes--i watch them too! you are just in a chair w/wheel--that's it. everybody sits, you just do it all the time! that's the obvious main difference. very few people are in perfect health, some ailments are more apparent than others, the important thing to realize is everybody sits, most everyone has ailments. Period.

I have found that if i can find comfort with myself and in myself, others are more comfortable in my presence.

Good hygene is a must, look at nina's post, what she went through--why? becuz she liked to she him smile! there are girls at your club that would feel the same way.

Courage, effort, good hygene, good humor, some cash, transportation and a nice cologne might all be within your reach--good luck my friend!

As well as what w/c said about taking the initiative. You really must as ALOT of dancers will do as you stated, biz, just walk on by or go to someone 'able' bodied (who may not have the $$).

Now that I've danced for someone in a w/c (it was a motorised one so it is probably similiar to yours biz).... I wouldn't pass them up anymore.... just that most dancers in a club will... for whatever reason.

I dunno. I always figured if they came up to me they were a lot more comfortable with it and, as they were more willing to "risk" the wheelchair dude, it'd be a lot more enjoyable....as opposed to someone going "omg omg omg omg omg" through their head .
