I would have tipped him $200-$300. or, if you fucked up and screwed him over in the past I would go for the $400. I know that is a ton of money, but in this business it's not ALWAYS about what you take home THAT night, but what you make consistantly. If he's going to direct business your way in the future, and extra $200 today doesn't sound like that bad of an investment.

[edit:] on the other hand I have found out that at one club the door men we're kind of dicking some of us dancers over. The customers would tip them without our knowledge and then they would still except lots of $$ from us. I don't mind "helping them out" but if the customer left a tip on credit card it went to them--half the time I bet the guys didn't know that. Anyways, we found out they would take that AND the money we were giving them. *sigh* then the customers wouldn't tip us extra. so pretty much they were making more than us for time in the VIP room, and customers were leaving broke. After a while management wondered why no one was selling rooms...

Well all the trouble started one day when the host pointed over to some guy at the bar and was like 'I know he's a big spender, go make US some money'.

So I go over to the guy and I sell him 4 hours in the vip room, during which time I discover that one of my regulars had sent the customer specifically to see me that night. He had asked for me by name, the host took $50 (tip to go find me from the dressing room or whatnot) and told the customer 'go wait over there'.

The host acted like he had landed the sale and sent me over and didn't tell me that I was actually requested. And he therefor expected 20%, and at the end of the night when I found out what all happened I wasn't going to give that host jack, so I just gave him $30.

And here I am, looking for a new club.

I heard through the grapevine that he had expected $200-300 from me that night.

It is required that we tip out 20% to the VIP host, no matter how much we make in VIP, then the club takes an additional 25%.

Anyone who makes me money - like through tips, intros, anything - I tip 10%, which I think is perfectly reasonable, unless they have done some pretty hardcore working on my behalf, and this has never come up. Except other dancers - then I just work on the "owe a favour" system. If someone else has made you $1600.00, though, I would just go to an even $200.00. You won't miss the extra $40.00 that night, and it makes you look nice. I don't think most people expect any more than that, and I know anyone that I have ever worked with would be pretty happy with a $200.00 tip.

In this particular situation you described, YOU landed the sale. HE did nothing. I would've given him $50 (10%) on top of the $50 the customer gave him. If he hustled for you, talked you up, insisted that you are the best dancer in the club, introduced the two of you, and all you had to do was smile to get 2 hours in the VIP, then 20-25% is reasonable.

That man is greedy. I'm glad I don't work with him.

    Shannon,

With a minimum 20% tip out, do some girls go over and above that? Like some girls tip out 35%, etc? To get first crack at customers??

Whenever I go to work in a new club, I always try to "make friends" with the bouncers, door people, wait staff, and even the valet. This are the people that I found stayed at the club and knew who the spenders were that came in. At my last club, I did this with the bartender and it payed out great.

Yes, some girls go over the required 20%. We also have to tip the dj at least $10, and many girls tip $50 or more(the high earners). There is a tip jar at the area where they take out the additional 25%, and many girls give extra tips there too for some reason. Seems to me that the same 5 girls are in VIP all night long every night I've worked..it's just not fair I need me some big fake boobs..

Similar question...when you have a grabby customer and the doorguy/bouncer keeps coming over and making him stop and/or kicks the guy out, how much do you tip him? I mean I know that's "doing" his job, but I know they make shit hourly, and some of the doorguys/bouncers tell on dancers in that situation and have them fined.

Wow, its nice to have other ppl hustling for you. Here, we don't have VIP hosts. Sometimes waitresses help me land money and I always throw them a good tip. No fucking way am I giving 25% unless they not only GOT me the guy, but they worked on keeping him in VIP with me. The reason that he paid you $1400 was because of YOUR hot ass, not because of his "talk". I'd make the customer give him a $100 tip, then give him an extra $100 MAX.

From what I know we don't have to report it. We get paid an hourly rate as well as tips.

Also, the VIP hosts don't hustle for us. We just have to tip them 20%. Our VIP is $250 for 30 min, then VIP Host gets $50 of the $250, then the house takes 25% of what's left over, so $250 for 30 min ends up to be very little .

Wow, VIP isn't seeming like such a great place to work after all.

I don't get why everyone was saying that this club is the shit.

Someone said that they made $2000 on many occasions here, in the club reviews.

According to what Shannon is saying, you only net $275 / hr (max), so you gotta stay in the CL for 6+ hours straight to earn that supposed $2000.... and how often does that happen to the average girl??

These clubs and their rediculous fees...

Ok, so that's $160 before the 25% total takeout: $120.

Plus, you have to add in the housefee of up to $100, DJ tipout, and tipping anyone else that might have helped you on the floor.......Its going to take 2 VIP's to even break even?

BUT, I would still love to work in an airdance club, it would be so refreshing, and perhaps worth the only average earnings.........

You're right - I was in VIP for 3 hours and after tip out only made about 900 from it. There are quite a few girls who are in VIP all night long, but it's always the same few girls so they are not the majority.

I'd tip $200. It's really not alot, and any less would be a diss in my opinion.

First of all...if this is what you've been doing, then you've been ass-raping yourself.

At VIP's, you tip 20% of your CL earnings to the CL Host. You tip 25% of your FLOOR (none of the CL earnings) to the floor guys. You don't combine your money and then tip 20% to the CL and then another 25% to the floor.

With Shannon's tipping strategy, your take home would look like this:

    Total CL earnings: $1500
    Total Floor earnings: $500

Total tip to Host (20%): $400
Total tip to "house" (25%): $500
    Tip to DJ: $10
    Tip to Housemom: $10

    Leaving with: $1080

    The RIGHT way:

Housefee (Off the top of floor earnings): $80

    Total CL earnings: $1500
    Total Floor earnings: $500

    Total tip to Host: $300
    Total tip to house: $105
    Tip to DJ: $30
    Tip to Housemom: $15

    Leaving with: $1630

    Much better..

BTW...having gone to celebrate my birthday at VIP's (my old dancing grounds) I was highly pissed off at wasting my time there. Pathetic. If I go back to dancing, I most likely will not go back there. Maybe Scores (where all the fees and tip outs are more reasonable anyways). So, just a thought.
