Default Long Beach, CA - Good Spot?

I am still tossing up my accomodation options for my stay in Cali. Originally I was looking at Venice beach but a nice wee place has come up in Long Beach (which is also cheaper!!)

What are the thoughts on the area? Nice spot to spend two weeks?

It really depends on where you are in Long Beach. If you're close to the University, right on the edge of Seal Beach, you should be okay; there are hotels/motels along Pacific Coast Highway here that would be fine (I'm not sure what kind of accommodations you're looking for?)

Downtown Long Beach (near the aquarium, the business district, the harbor and the bars) is generally okay, too.

But much of Long Beach is sketchy. Be careful!

Venice is wacky, fun, and touristy...but watch your back there, too.

You might want to try Redondo Beach or Hermosa Beach as well.

Long Beach isn't that great to visit, unless you are visiting people there, plus the south bay isn't somewhere to get lost in. I would stick to the main hotel areas since you don't really know the area. Venice or Santa Monica is a good area to stay at a hotel. Heres a map to give you an idea of the LA area.

Thanks for helping me nut this out guys....

I am going up for some training so I need to be round that area, I think it sounds like Venice is the best spot to be for what I need to do. Lots of good Yoga in the area too!

Thanks for the map link Muyaha.

If I can get work I will stay in and explore the other areas

San Diego's club all suck perpetual *ss.They are all run down and very old.The funiture is older than most of us.You will bust you butt for at least 8 hours just to make $200-$300.Not worth it at all,not to mention, your need to pay $160 to get the required license.

Hey Krys when I was going for my license today the application noted that you have to have a green card or something that says you are a U.S. citizen. Im not sure on passports though.

Your best bet is a place that doesnt need a license for you to work there that way you can come and go as you please while you are vacationing. CA is strict on alot of things as I am finding out and very giving on other laws or things. Go figure?

You mentioned in an earlier post that the clubs there were good, but from a dancer's perspective, they are by far not.

Whether or not the dancer is visiting, the license is still mandatory.
