Has any one had septoplasty or rhinoplasty done?
If so, about how much was it? How long were you out from work? Was there much pain (I know to expect bruising)?
Are you happy with the results?
Any other info would be great
Thanks.

One more thing... if you had insurance at the time, did they pay for the septoplasty?
ive had both done..
i paid about 2500 total, because i had a deviated septum that my insurance covered and i covered the cosmetic portion.
I like my results, and it hurt far less then my boob job. oH, I didnt have much bruising esp after the bandages came off (little more then 1 week later)
I was out of work for a couple of weeks.
I want one SOOO bad, my friend broke my nose on accident about 5 years ago, it's not THAT noticeable, but I can tell it's crooked. Plus I think my nose is too big, I just don't like it.
(Story of broken nose: I was at my friends house for a party, we were in the basement, and it was only the second time I'd ever gotten stoned (don't do it anymore). We were all dancing, there was a strobe light on and I started moving towards it, only I didnt see my friend until the last second as her elbow came crashing down on my nose. That night I had a HUGH bump, and swelling, it looked nasty, but about a week later the swelling went down, but now the ridge on the right is shifted slightly to the left, it drives me nuts!)
I had mine done about 10 years ago. I had crappy insurance at the time with a $5000 deductible so even though I had a deviated septum nothing was covered. I paid about $6000 total if i remember correctly. I had to have it redone after a short period of time because my tip fell and he had to re-sew it up or something. The first time they broke bones and I stayed home about a week drugged up. The second time, no bones broken, I was doing stuff, driving around, but still wearing that dump splint on my nose. I don't remember any pain at all but I started taking the meds as soon as I got home.

I've had one. Actually, I've had several because the first surgeon f*cked up. Most nose jobs I've seen are terrible. You can tell that they've been done and they are usually crooked.
If you choose to get one, plan on spending $10,000. For my final nose job, I went all out and found one of the best surgeons in the world (conveniently located in Chicago). I seriously wanted it to be my last. I had scrimped before and the results were &*#!. The total bill (including hospital fees, etc) was $7500.
Rhinoplasty is the most difficult cosmetic procedure. It requires much skill and artistry on the part of the surgeon. For more information, go here:

I can not stress enough that you do your research. Good luck!
Lizette, how did your last nose job turn out? If it was good, who was your doctor, i live in the chicago area. I actually called some local places and asked for ballpark costs, funny thing is like two of the places that i called TOLD me to research and find a person who SPECIALIZES in rhinoplasty and has a LONG history of GOOD ones! THE SECRETARIES basically told me to go find a different doctor, i was amused, but also grateful. Have you ever heard of that Dr. Chupchin (Wrong spelling, but his name sounds like that) B96 people are always advertising him and say he's the best around.

Lizette - do you have before and after photos?
What was the name of your doctor? I had planned to research U of M since I'm in that area but Chicago is not that far away.

Bunny,
How much did it cost for the tip revision? Also, did it hurt? How long did it take to heal ect...
Thanks![]()

talking bout' nose jobs,I saw the most perfect one today! This nurse at the doctors office,Her nose was too cutesy,I was staring at it and thinking to myself how cute is her little nose!I brought up the subject to the doctor, since he was a plastic surgeon too,and ask him if he was any good at nose jobs? She said that she had her nose done!I couldn't believe it,it looked so natural, only thing ,that doc didn't do it,it was before she worked there and I didn't want to ask her who did it since the doctor she worked for was in the room, but,i am gonna hit her up and find out next time I go back there for sure!HaHa![]()

Magdalena, the tip revision didn't cost a thing. It was included in the cost of the initial surgery. If anything didn't come out right he'd fix it and since he wasn't happy with my tip being too low he redid it free of charge. I want to say about a week to take off the splint and all that for the revision but it's been so long. Nose jobs take a long time (up to a year or more) to really show what they look like and mine has even changed some since. I have some scar tissue on one side more than the other and if I wanted to be really picky I could have it redone but I'm happy with it. Before I was totally self concious about my nose and now I never think about it. Also, I told some people the other night I'd had a nose job and no one believed me! Somebody even said I had an aristocratic nose. wtf? I have no clue what that means but it sounded like a compliment.

I'd rather not share my before and afters. I've had about 5 surgeries over 13 years. It was painful, emotionally.
Dr. J. Reagan Thomas and Dr. Dean Touriumi are considered the best in rhinoplasty, worldwide. They share an office in Chicago. Dr. Thomas performed the final surgery. I'm very happy.
Excellent facial plastic surgeons practice everywhere. A good one will tell you what she can and can't do. One surgeon turned me away after my third or fourth because he said it was beyond his skill. He gets a point for awesomeness. Where as another couldn't wait to chop off more cartilege, the exact opposite of what I wanted. I ran out of that office.
I went to the best of the best because at that point I wouldn't have trusted anyone else. In your case, there are probably hundreds of good surgeons across the country that could give you a nose you like.
Please do your research. Word of mouth is the worst way to find a surgeon because every patient is different. I looked up the top-notch revision rhinoplasty surgeons, checked their credentials, and paid each of them multiple visits. I saw Dr. Thomas 3 times before making up my mind. It was the most important decision of my life.

Had it done over 10 yrs ago in DC,cost about 6,000,the results are great,I'm very satisfied. The bandages came off about 2 weeks later, which revealed black eyes, but that went away very fast.My nose was bleeding for the first week, because on my case they had to break the bone during surgery. The tip felt weird, like it wasn't mine for a long time, because the doctor moved it up.I can say that it was well worth it.Actually it hurt much less than the first boob job.
