    Default Strattera

My doctor just put me on Strattera for ADD. Has anyone been on this? If so what kind of side effects did you experience?
Today is my first day taking it and already I feel drowsy and my head and stomach hurt.Plus, my mouth is so dry.

I guess Im going to try it for a few weeks and see if it helps. But if sexual side effects or weight gain kick in then I will not take it.

Anyone have any experiance positive or negative to share?
    Thanks

Hi, Mag! My husband has really strong ADHD. He's been on Stratterra for like a year or so, and he's absolutely a changed man! He's much more patient and tells me he can concentrate so much better. One potential "benefit!" He's actually lost weight since he's been on it!

I hope it work's that well for me. I am also very impatient and have a lot of trouble concentrating. So , if I see even a slight improvement in those area's I will be thrilled. I also feel like I can never get anything done. Actually, Lately I have been having trouble even motivating myself to start anything. Im sick of feeling frustrated and overwhelmed over the littlest things!

I can see why Strttera would make you lose weight. I have no appetite at all. And am still feeling a little sick to my stomach.
All day I have felt pretty out of it. I hope this is something that goes away after a few day's because I refuse to walk around like a zombie.

I will let everyone know how it's working. As well as all the side effects I have.

    Will do

I know what you mean about staying off the meds. I just got myself off my antidepressants because I was sick of feeling drugged. plus, the weight gain made me almost more depressed.
From what my doctor told me the med. I was taking, Zoloft, usually causes about A 25 pound weight gain Luckily, I only gained about 5 which I am already losing.

My doctor thinks that since ADD and depression generaly go hand in hand that by treating my ADD I will also be treating my depression and besides, none of the anti-depressants I have tried have worked.

She also said that people with ADD usually have low self-esteem and body image problems. Which explains a lot in my case. She really seems to think that this medicine is going to help me with all of that.

My fiancee has ADD and was on ritalin for years. He decided to quit taking it because of its addictive factor (plus he was building a tolerance to it) after college. He tried Strattera for three months, and the side effects were awful. While he did lose weight, it was because every morning he took it he felt sick and couldn't eat. He was also more irritable and was suddenly getting headaches. It wasn't really helping the ADD, either. Now he's on a low dose of dexadrine, which seems to work amazingly well, but there is a huge addictive factor. Both his doctor and I have a watch on him, and he only takes it on work days. Seems to be the best solution; I hope whatever you do it works best.
...and the day came, when the risk it took to remain closed in a bud became worse than the risk it took to blossom.
