Just take it easy. I have been waiting FOREVER to share this story: I worked with a dancer who liked to drink. She was drunk when she pulled her groin muscle at work...so she didn't feel any pain. She kept on dancing and doing splits and jumping around until her groin swelled up so much it looked like she had a tumor. I was screaming when I looked up close in the dressing room, telling her to go to the hospital. She had long skinny legs, so her thigh looked all weird.
Moral of the tale? Treat the pull gently and don't hurt it worse. You'll be horrified by what it'll look and feel like if you make it worse. Losing a little money now is better than disfiguring yourself and getting laid up for a few nights.
Alternate cold and warm/hot compresses, and take a little Ibuprofen. But go easy!

Ive pulled some type of muscle deep in my hip flexor frome doing vigorous splits after a few drinks. There is really nothing you can do but stay off of it until it heals, which may take a while. It took 3 months to heal the first time. Be very GENTLE when stretching it as you may tear it again and have to start from scratch. I never tear it anymore, probaby too much scar tissue.

Sliding down the pole into the splits is a sure fire way of causing this. Having the pole to hold onto causes you to think you are invincible!

I second that! I'd like to add that you should stretch the pulled muscle a bit, and gently- don't just think you can't use it or move it at all. It'll heal all stiff and take a LONG time if you don't give it a little bit of stretch.
