    Default calories

So, I have decided that even though I work out a lot, I still am not showing results like I'd like, so I've decided to go on a diet. I am counting calories, b/c that way I can eat what I want as long as I don't go over my alloted amount. I am also not eating after 6pm. I decided I can have like 1200 calories a day in order to lose weight (I am currently 132, down from 140, and I had been working out 4x a wk, 40 min cardio for about 6 wks). Does anyone else diet like this? I just figured calories are calories. I can't really do atkins b/c I am allergic to artificial sweeteners, and I've been getting my calories from stuff like tuna, salads, fruits, frozen lean cuisines, and as far as fast food I do like chargrilled chicken sandwiches from chickfila (only 290 calories). I take tonalin and am starting to add weight training to my workout, even though I don't like doing it. Am I doing all this right?

What is your calorie intake right now? How long have you been on that alloted calorie intake? How long did it take you to go from 140 to 132? How many times a week are you lifting and doing cardio and for how long?

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

I am doing about 1200-1300 cal/day. I've only been like that for like 3 days, as I was just attempting to eat healthy before. I'd say I'd been working out for about 6wks, 4x a week @ 40 min cardio, haven't done weights in forever. So, it took me about 6 wks to drop 8 lbs.

The only thing with cutting to so few calories is that you HAVE to give yourself a cheat day. I mean, don't eat everything in sight, but don't count for a day. Otherwise after a bout two weeks you'll completely breakdown and ruin the plan because your body will be craving stuff....believe me, I know.
I do under 1400 calories a day. I am 5'7 and weigh between 120-125, depending on the day you ask! I do at least four days a week 1 hour cardio on an elliptical, and then strength training. On that plan I went from 135 to my current weight and basically eliminated any jiggly parts.
If you have any questions feel free to ask me! I've tried bunches of different things in diff combos.....

The KEY to dieting is of course limiting your calorie intake, and of course watching the foods you eat. Eat healthy, eat balanced, and for Gods sakes don't eat ANY grease or sugar. That's what I'm doing right now. ALSO watch the grams of fat, that'll kick your ass too. Something really bad for you might only have like 200 calories, BUT it will have like 10 grams of fat. I usually try to keep my fat intake down to 20 grams a day.

weightlossforall - check out this site - Sure you can cut calories and eat whatever you please and still lose, but many people don't take into account that not all calories are created equal. If you're not doing it correctly, think of too much sodium (water weight, just as much a bitch as fat) and loss of muscle tissue with rapid, incorrect weight loss. Never ever completely deny yourself certain foods, moderation really is the key! Just stick to the good stuff for the most part.

I am on a 1,200 calorie intake and i do 40 minutes of cardio in the morning and another session of cardio of 30 mins at night.

I was right with you i went from 220 to 136 so its just a struggle listen to them when they tell you to give yourself at least one cheat day. I eat clean in the am and for lunch i have wahtever i want then dinner its back to my clean eating i usually just want one bad thing weather its a real soda, a hamburger, whatever it is that i want i have a small size or a regular size and i continue to workout during my cheat eay.

I also workout about 6 days a week and weight train and 7 days a week i do double cardio if i dont want to do my treadmill or jog on land for 10mins straight I jump my rope and workout outside for an hour and go in and cool off so just stick it out sweetie and i promise you will see your results

1,200 calories a day, when your doing that much exercise, AND dancing on top of that, is NOT enough. It's unhealthy, actually.

Well, to tell you the truth...counting calories is over-rated. What you should be keeping track of is unnecessary fats. Usually, a stall in weight loss has more to do with excess fats and carbs as opposed to calories.

If you really check your diet, you'll probably find that you are too high in the fats and carbs area. If you eat a lot of "prepared" foods, you most definitely are.

Oh, and you should look at your cardio workout. If you are not doing interval, your body has most likely gotten "used" to the workout and thus has lost it's effectiveness. You should always do in interval cardio routine.
