Default Liberal Radio Show Jokes About Assasination Of GWB

AIR AMERICA RADIO INVESTIGATED AFTER BUSH 'GUNSHOTS'

The red-hot rhetoric over Social Security on liberal talkradio network AIR AMERICA has caught the attention of the Secret Service, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

Government officials are reviewing a skit which aired on the network Monday evening -- a skit featuring an apparent gunshot warning to the president!

The announcer: "A spoiled child is telling us our Social Security isn't safe anymore, so he is going to fix it for us. Well, here's your answer, you ungrateful whelp: [audio sound of 4 gunshots being fired.] Just try it, you little bastard. [audio of gun being cocked]."

The audio production at the center of the controversy aired during opening minutes of The Randi Rhodes Show.

"What is with all the killing?" Rhodes said, laughing, after the clip aired.

"Even joking about shooting the president is a crime, let alone doing it on national radio... we are taking this very seriously," a government source explained.

White House Spokesman Scott McClellan called the clip "very inappropriate and over the line."

AIR AMERICA President of Programming and co-COO Jon Sinton said in a release: "We regret that a produced comedy bit that was in bad taste slipped through our normal vetting process. We do acknowledge that it was an internal error and internal discipline will be enforced."

Rhodes apologized for the skit on Wednesday. "It was a bit,” Rhodes said. “It was bad. I apologize a thousand times."

And I thought it was just the republicans that were the "hatemongers".

Everyone who has an agenda and or an axe to grind can be a hatemonger. Its not exclusive to any party, ideology or bias. People fail to see that because that would force introspection and self criticism. We can't advance our (fill in blank) agenda if we do that, now can we?

I'm not saying it was right. I'm just saying that liberals do fantasize about this. We can't help it.

Uh, I guess they're all keyed up because Columbia's FARC really did threaten to kill Bush when he was visiting there last winter. Assassinations happen ALL the time in Third World Countries....

Republicans aren't hatemongerers. Those crazy right-wing conservatives are

I actually listen to Air America (in addition to WOAI which hosts an all conservative talk station in SAT) and the host of the show, Randi Rhodes, had not heard the full bit. When she came on the air, after hearing the very end of the bit, her FULL quote was:

"Let's not do that while I'm here in Florida," Rhodes, who broadcasts from West Palm Beach, said laughingly following the item. "Let's not arm the old people until I leave. What is with all the killing?"
She spent all yesterday apologizing for the bit (it got redundant after awhile) and making it clear that she does not advocate the killing of ANY public officials. Still, she took full responsibility for the bit, insisting that since it's her show, she's responsible for whatever is put on it.

There are some nutty liberals (and lately conservatives) out there who would love to see Bush put down like the CONservative lap b*tch that he is, but Randi Rhodes is not one of them. She may not be the sharpest tool in the shed for not listening to her bits before they play, but she does not pose physical danger to Shrubya.

If Randi Rhodes is going to be prosecuted, investigated, or castigated for something she didn't even say or even have prior knowledge of, Ann Coulter (who wrote that the only real question about Bill Clinton was "whether to impeach or assassinate.") and those morons who advocate violence against judges on the House and Senate floors deserve the same treatment (which they won't get b/c the media is sooooo liberal ).

I've often thought about putting up a website where I ask those about to commit suicide to do something for the rest of us first and kill a politician or two before they kill themselves.

Great idea I think, but I doubt the politicians would be very happy. I was also a strong supporter of assassination politics.

That radio skit is WRONG...respect for the office, if not the person.

My gf is in radio...free speech is cool - but draw the line at inciting violence folks. Kidding or not, crazies may take it as an order

of course, like Orson Welles' mars skit....hard to tell out of context.

I am not so sure. Monica Lewinsky was told to "blow away" Bill Clinton and she misunderstood.

Ahhh, there's men in Iraq right now killing people because of him but we can't joke about it here? I just think that's a little funny in a sick way. Kinda hypocritical.

Indeed Legs , indeed.......Funny how I didn't see many (any ?) conservatives crying foul when Ann Coulture says things about bashing in the head of liberals with a baseball bat as a suggestion of how to deal with any liberal that crosses a conservatives path.

    Example of discrimination (Imho):

the only prudent way to treat Islamics in the US and western europe today is along the same vein as Russians and Eastern Europeans were treated during the 'cold war' days - with some degree of suspicion warranted until proven otherwise !
