    Default How do you make your butt jump?

    I can only pop my hips in certain positions, but what I really really want to learn how to do is the butt jumping thing. You know where girls can make their butt muscles jump on either side or both? I can't find the muscle that controls that no matter what I do! Can anyone help me?

    Hmmm well I dont have much of a butt lol...so take my suggestions with a grain of salt LMAO. Anyway, since you can't make it "jump" can you at least make it clap? Ok, close your eyes, and think about Dorothy from the Wiz of Oz...seriously... DO IT! lol just click your heels together, and you will get some wiggle.

    I can make it clap using my thigh muscles. It's funny, the only muscles I know how to move in my butt are the major glutes. I think it's the one above that one that you move to make it jump.

    LOL, I was just re-reading an old thread on this.

    I'm not the greatest booty popper, but I do have some skills I get down really low in a kneeling position (like doggy style), arch my back and work my thigh and butt muscles up and down. It helps me control the movement with my feet about one inch off the ground.

    One way to warm up to it, is to lay on your back with your legs straight up & together and kind of twist them so that you feel the jiggle in your thighs and butt. This will help you with control and you'll be able to incorporate that into your bent over booty pop. With practice, you will be able to do even while your standing (I'm not there yet).

    Edit: Okay, now I know what you're referring to and for the life of me I can't come up with an articulate way to describe it...you can do it at the same time you flex your the backs of your thighs..

    Amethyst I just found the booty popping thread. I'm so glad you mentioned it because I would never have found it by searching butt jumping lol. I'm going to try some of the things mentioned in it. And yes, that is exactly what I am trying to do! My problem is getting it to jump UPWARD instead of INWARD (like you're trying to hold in a fart or something, not sexy lol).

    I wish I could help you out because any kind of booty shaking and jumping I can do, but it's hard to explain in writing..lol.I do the butt jump to the beat of the music.Try to look into a mirror (kinda hard..lol) while practicing.

    I wish I could do this too.
    I can do the booty clap. and I get down on my hands and knees and lean forward and just shake my butt so much, but I cannot make my butt "jump."

    I don't really care, but it would just be cool if I could learn how to do it.

    Here in San Antonio, it seems like everyone does it so it's no big deal. I only do it when I'm bored onstage, if at all. Most guys I dance for don't like it anyway and think it looks tacky, but the kiddos do love it!!

    It took me two years to get this. I think some girls are born with it. I learned by laying on my stomach and wiggling, squeezing my upper thighs. I practiced it constantly and finally got it down. My boyfriend says I do it in my sleep, lol. I also learned how to make my chest muscles jump. I have natural C's and my GF claimed that's what's kept hers looking like mine....she's 43 with C's. You can do anything you put your mind too and practice, practice, practice.

    If you look like youre trying to hold in a fart, your messing with the anal muscles or something, and I bet that wouldnt look very pretty I learned how to do it by sitting on the floor with my feet under my butt, spread the knees apart some, and just play around. You have to practice lots and lots, takes muscle control.

    lol..thats my speciality. i never really practiced, just kinda comes natural. if u wanna see examples just watch BET uncut comes on at 3am i believe. i don't really have any instructions .. umm try clenching and realeasing first then doing one cheeck at a time LOL>. ..i duno!

    It depends on what position you do it in. Normally I do it with my legs under me kinda in a sitting up position as Retired Dancer explained. I only use my gluts that way.If you try to do it standing you can feel your hamstrings working when you do it, but when I do it you can only see my glutes jumping.I've seen girls with smaller booties do it and you can sometimes see they're using their hamstrings.There are a few other postions I do it in as well though, but I only use my glutes for those too.

    I used to lay flat on my stomach and try to talk my butt into moving It was pretty frustrating. Try this: lay flat on your stomach and squeeze your butt cheeks together, then relax them. Do this over and over. Try alternating your cheeks You may need to get your upper thighs into it. Pretty soon, I was able to do it standing up. Now, I can do it when I sit on my knees. It seriously took me 2 years to get it right.

    Sit down on your ass, pull your legs as far to the side as possible, as if stretching.

    Now, you want to lean forward from the hips, flat back, do NOT bend your back, a slight arch might help.

    Make sure all of your ass is behind you, lift it up if you have to. You want to be leaning forward, with your sits bones right underneath you.

    Go as far forward as possible with flat back, until you get your elbows on the floor in front of you.

    Now begin to squeeze and contract your right glute muscle. The position will help you isolate so that you are not using your thighs or momentum. Keep practicing, alternate, then together. You'll get it!

    this is funny and this might help too:

    i wasn't able to do it either untill i did the taebo advanced tapes!

    i have been dancing for two years and the first time i saw someone do it i was blown away. i tried everyday til i just gave up. one day i was doing the lower body workout, i think it's tape 5, anyway, after i was done,my butt felt really tight like i had woke up muscles i had never used before. it was weird. i didn't want to do anymore because it clams to flatten your butt and i can't do that cause i love my booty. i don't know what made me try it but when i got on my knees to stretch i flexed one cheek then the other and started doing it to the music i was playing for my workout. then bada bing bada boom, i had it down packed.
