Default Random thought about money ($, €, £, etc.)

While I was on vacation last weekend I happened to hear the O'Jays "For The Love Of Money" and Jennifer Lopez' "Love Don't Cost A Thing" in close proximity to one another, and I got to thinking:

How come the ones who say money doesn't matter...are the ones who have it?

And how come the ones who say money is the root of all evil...are the ones who don't have it?

Money is mankinds second greatest invention next to language.

There is nothing wrong with money, the love of money, or even greed; it just depends on how you go about acquiring it. You can do so either through voluntary, peaceful exchange, or you can acquire it through fraud or violence. Acquring anything through fraud and violence is the sin, not loving money.

I hear lots of poor people saying money is evil too. Might be jealousy in their case, or guilt in the case of the celebs.

Actually, avarice (greed) is traditionally one of the seven deadly sins.
"He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"

One of the highlights of "The Aviator" was the scene where Hughs totally bitches out these rich "artists." He says "Money is meaningless to you because you have it!"

I've been rich, I've been poor. I will take rich any day. It is one's choice to live below one's means and not feel bad about it.

for those who don't have money and call it the root of all evil-- nietzsche talks about that in terms of master versus slave morality. The slaves, or the oppressed, make themselves feel better about what they want, by resenting it and those who have it, and by making it evil, therefore damning those who have it.

If Nietzsche is to hard to read, then Aesop had a fable about that too.

As far as J. Lopez goes, sure i can see why she would say love don't cost a thing....Her real love is wearing dead animals...That cost her.

Sorry don't care for her "Fur wearing habit."

I don't know actually. I am happy, and have money, but hell i still hit a thrift store now and again.
