Default London (and Leeds, and Leicester) Calling

I'm a big fan of a bunch of British bands and I thought I'd throw some of my current preferred tracks out there in case anyone had some similar recommendations. I like the pop!

Kasabian--"Club Foot" (band's a little cheesy for me but great club song)

Kaiser Chiefs--"I Predict a Riot," "Everyday I Love You Less and Less," "Oh My God"

    Razorlight--"Golden Touch," "Leave Me Alone"

Currently under review for work suitability are the Futureheads (who also did a great cover of "Hounds of Love" and Maximo Park. And hooray, new British Sea Power and Super Furry Animals albums are on the horizon.

    God bless you, Woman!

The Futureheads "Hounds of Love" is cool... Not for dancing.. but... yes.. love it.

The Kasabian track I'm so gonna use.

What about faux brit bands? Like the NW copycats (though I hate to phrase it that way). The CharmParticles (Portland) are nifty as are The Evening (Oakland). But I'm kinda keen on the britpop cum bloody valentine feedback. I'm bad like that.

I should add that the 2 bands I mentioned are just fun to check out... not really for the club.

FYI, the whole Kasabian cd is kinda fun. It's 7.99 at Target. (Futureheads.... eh. Kaiser Chiefs, sorry, but no not for me personally, & I've only heard one Razorlight track so I won't judge.) The Bravery's cd was also 7.99....there's a few fun tracks on there. Futureheads...are we talking the Kate Bush song? I havent heard it but it sounds like heresy to me, mmmkay?

I would also just like to say I played Jesus&Mary Chain's version of "Who Do You Love?" tonight. I rule. G'nite!

Well, I like it. The girl that was up liked it, too. It's a little slower, grindier, and fuzzed out in typical JAMC style, but it seemed to go over well. Kinda a slow night though honestly or I might not have done it. It's on the "Barbed Wire Kisses" cd, which as far as I know is out of print...but I'm sure you can find it on Ebay.

JMC have a tendancy to sound terrible on club speakers unless a DJ knows to ride the EQ... Love and Rockets too... It is their love of feedback. You guys I would trust to do that but most DJs? eh... most new club music is so compressed to get as much oomph out of the bass as possible that throwing up a non-remastered older track can be jarring to my ears. But then I re-eq my older stuff to compensate and then bring those versions in for that very reason...
