    Thumbs up What 2 DO

Hey ladies I would love some input. Here's the deal I just started at this new club. But I don't know what to do with the $$ that I made. The place I'm at wants the girls to wear earrings, necklaces, bracelts, etc... I know most of you are laughing at me for saying that but I'm serious. Should I invest the $$ back into myself? You know get make-up, earrings, necklaces, etc..... things that will make me look more like want they want. Or should I pay bills? Light, H2O, Car Ins, etc... I'm open to all suggestions

You should sit down and make up a budget.

Write down your "must have" expenses. If you're not sure about some things, estimate (power bill for example, and estimate on the high end to be safe). "Must have" includes power, water, car, insurance, food, gas, rent. Add all of these things up. Subtract it from what you've made. The rest is discretionary money. From that, decide how much you want to invest back into yourself for work. The way you decide that is...if I invest this money, will I make MORE money by doing so? If not, then don't do it. If so, and the return will be worthwhile, then do it.

Don't forget SAVINGS....long term (retirement, emergency funds, house/school, etc) and short term (slush fund for high bills, gifts, etc).

    Remember, dancing doesn't last forever!

As a dancer you SHOULD be a high maintenance woman in all phases of life. Of course you should invest in jewelry. If you have chosen to do this line of work, your appearance is EVERYTHING.

Gold earrings can be had for less than $100. I'm sure you have some jewelry of your own. I would not wear jewelry that is really expensive to the club, but a lady always wears some.

Costume jewelry bracelets are an option.

What do you wear in your personal life when you go out? Gradually buy some inexpensive costume pieces and some gold earrings if you don't have any.

Your looks are everything. We are in a business of looks. Invest within reason in things that make you look like a classy desireable lady.

For work I love pretty australian crystal jewelry, it is very pretty in the club lighting, and for about 15 bucks it can make you look like a million(you can get it at cheap accesories stores like Claires or aftethoughts). Like Tina said looks are everything in this buisness. The better you look the more you will make. You should spend part of the money on your bills and part on your appearance. Things to keep yourself up aren't that expensive. For example you can buy inexpensive jewelry from Claires, inexpensive lingere from like TJ Maxx, or event Target (they have some cute lingere) and you can buy inexpensive makeup from the drugstore, and if you are really on a cheap budget and don't have sensitive skin you can wear Wet n Wild products which are super cheap, however, you should buy expensive foundation/powder/concealer, because cheap looks terrible. Also makeup is cheaper at places like K-Mart, and so is lingere (if you can wear cheap makeup)

I make my own jewelry and sell it when I travel.... Lots of sparkly real Swarovski crystals.. I think They look more up-to-date than the rhinestone jewelry, and sparkle much more under the lights....

You will need to reinvest in your wardrobe-- once your "newness" rubs off the guys are going to be looking for "the best looking" girl in the club-- and while everyone has a differnt look and all the guys like something different, you'll need to match up to the other girls.

apossible budget may go something like this

    30% retirement
    30% bills
10% emergency fund --- a true emergency like broken leg
    10% spending $$
10% prudent reserve ---pop-up's like car repair
    10% special big ticket items

If you are making a basic average of $300 nightly then $30-60 a day should only take you a week or so to get your basic dance wardrobe built up (maybe use your big ticket fund for yor work clothes)

Another thing that may help you is to wait until the END of the week before you spend any money--- treat your dancing $$ as if it;s a weekly paycheck.
Sexy, Swarovski Stripper jewelry, OOAK, and DIY clothing

Wanna know what looks so sparkly and hot under stripper lighting? Swarovski crystals. Mmmm. Buy something made of that and you shimmer all night long.

And they're right about savings. When I worked a regular job I saved AS MUCH as I could and it turned out to be $3000 in 6 months! $6,000 a year... in ten years I could put a huuuuuuge down payment on a house - and that's working a regular job!!

Once I get brave enough to audition, I will be investing 50% of my pay into savings (except the first two nights fees will go to spoiling the living hell out of myself) and going to college with the money. Whee! :3

Please remember, you should be setting aside roughly 30% or so for taxes and keep ALL work related receipts! If possible put it in an account that is difficult to access, such as a savings account without an ATM card or something like that. You might not have to pay all that, so if you don't, think of it as a tax return at the end of the year.

Also, yes! Invest in your looks! Read some of the make-up tips and favorites in the Body Talk forum, I've learned tons there, and my make-up looks so much better than when I started. Work-out/take yoga or dance when you can.
Jewelry be smart about, don't get uber-expensive stuff or flimsy stuff. The number of pieces of broken due to over-enthusiastic dancing! ;P I get a few small pieces that won't interfere with my outfit [I had a necklace tear a hole in dress of mine, le sigh] or with my stage work. Probably a big pendant that would hit a guy wouldn't be good either. Though now I'm tempted to check out these Swarovski crystals.

well you should pay your bills first and then invest in your looks etc...you don't have to spend a fortune on the jewerly or even the make up...you can find good jewerly like at a Clairs Boutique and shop your local drugstore for cosmetics.

Go to walmart or target and get some cheapo jewelry, it's not like you can tell the difference in the lighting anyway, and a lot of the time the cheap stuff look really really cute too!
