Default Opinions - letter to the boss.

I'm just so sick of my work right now so I wrote a letter to the boss. I work in a no contact club - thats the licencing that we have, and everything that pisses me off here is something that goes against club rules. Oppinions? I feel like I sound like such a goodie two shoes / prude, but the work situation is beyond ridiculous!!!!! - What do you think? (If anyone would like to correct any spelling mistakes, feel free) (-:

    To _________

I love working at __________ and I hope to come back when I return from overseas. However I am finding the current work situation almost impossible to work in; Not entirely due to the lack of customers currently and the fairly substantial number of girls working at the club but also due to an ever increasing lack of work ethics amongst some dancers.
    They include...

    * Dancers approaching customers around the podium and / or sitting with them around the podium.

    * Dancers cutting in on other dancers customers or people other dancers are talking to.

    * Dancers slagging off other dancers to customers.

    * Dancers touching or rubbing against customers in order to try and sell a private show.

    * Dancers offering a little more than is acctually legal in a private show. (Thats not to say that anyone's acctually doing extras in the shows, just that they offer is there.)

    * Dancers undercutting for private shows.

    * Dancers "over-cutting" on the podium. Ie. Only doing a topless show for $20 then asking for another $20 to complete the show. Or insisting that stage shows are $50, sometimes working in twos or threes on a podium which means that when the next girls get up the customers either feel ripped off and don't want to tip or they don't have enough money to tip anyone else or to get private shows - except of course from the girls who undercut which are generally the same ones who over-cut on the podium.

    * Dancers not sharing the whole podium when on stage in pairs.

    * Dancers doing long shows on the podium when paying customers are scarce to stop other dancers from getting a look in.

    * When the club / podium is near empty some dancers do a free show in order to try and sell a private or in hope of getting a tip. Often hogging customers for the full 15 minute set and disregarding the fact that the customer may want to tip the other girl on stage.

    * Dancers pretending they don't understand English properly when the rules are explained to them or in any other situation where it works to their advantage or weaseling out of a situation. (By no means am I implying that all the dancers who don't have English as a first language do this, nor do I care about anyone doing this is it's a fair situation.)

    * Dancers / waitresses not informing other dancers when a customer specifically is interested in them.

    * Dancers waitresses telling customers not to tip or talk to other girls, or sometimes choosing specifically who they should and shouldn't talk to.

    * Dancers getting up on stage late when no-one's tpping and jumping up early when they are.

Unfortunatly I think there is more than what I have listed here. I am a big beliver that if we all work fairly and together we can all keep our heads above water. It's extreemly disheartening to all of the dancers who work fairly to watch ourselves and each other sink whilst others are swimming due to working unfairly.
In some of the other clubs I've worked in all dancers are issued with a club rule / law book and have to sign a statement to say that they understand the rules. Dancers who bend or break the rules are at first given a warning but repeat offenders are fined and then sacked if they continue to keep disregarding club polacy. Would it be possible to have the rules and legalities on display in the changing room?

(-: I must admit I'm so glad to be out of the place for a couple of months! It hasn't always been bad though - I've loved working at that club up until recently!

I haven't complained to management about the girls, but my old club in Austin was owned by Rick's, and when I emailed their central office about the sorry state of the bathroom there, boom! In a day guys were ripping and replacing the entire floor. So you never know; a complaint might just work.

You want to send a letter to management regarding the "wrong" stuff that goes on there...and then you sugar-coat some of the stuff. Don't. Otherwise, you make it give them the opportunity to say, "Oh, it's not that bad."

    Ok: Sentence restructuring:

I am finding the current club environment almost impossible to work in. This mainly involves the substantial number of girls working at the club who ignore the rules and pricing of the club.

Short, to the point and no sugar-coating.

    Some spelling corrections and re-wording:

Unfortunatly, there is more going on than what I have listed here. I am a big beliver that if we all work together we can keep our heads above water. It's extremely annoying to be constantly undercut by other dancers or have these same dancers provide illegal activities in order for them to make more money.

In some of the other clubs I've worked in, all dancers were issued a club rule / law book and have to sign a statement to say that they understand the rules/laws. Dancers who bend or break the rules/laws are at first given a warning but repeat offenders are fired if they continue to keep disregarding club policy and local laws.

I really would like to come back and work at the club, however, I do not want to work in an environment that allows disrespectful and illegal activities to continue. I would like to have a win-win situation for both dancers and management, but something needs to be done.

I look forward to hearing back from you.

Take what you can use and leave the rest. Keep in mind, that management may not like the letter at all. But, if you know them well and have been at the club a long time...they may listen to you.

Also...if you do make more changes to the letter...make sure you don't "sugar-coat" anything. Say what you want respectfully, but don't make "excuses" or "sweeten" the issues up.

Good luck...and let me know how it goes.

I guess "podium" is what you call the stage.

To me the worst things going on there are:
1st: Dancers undercutting for private shows. This would NEVER be acceptable anywhere in the US that I know of. Should be grounds for firing.
2nd: Dancers approaching customers around the podium and / or sitting with them around the podium. This is very bad in my opinon. Many dancers here would unfortunately disagree. Management may not care either.

I don't know how things work there, so I'm confused about:
"Dancers doing long shows on the podium when paying customers are scarce to stop other dancers from getting a look in." In the US you do a stage "set" of 2 or 3 songs... when the song is over, you get off stage and another dancer gets on. I'm not sure how a stage show could go any longer. I guess it works differently there. Please enlighten us so we don't sound so ignorant.

As for: Dancers getting up on stage late when no-one's tpping and jumping up early when they are. In the US, the DJ enforces stage time and in some places can penalize dancers or get them fired for this.

I'm not sure what this means or why it is a problem:
    * Dancers slagging off other dancers to customers.
    ???
Seems like they are helping other dancers.

Most of the other things are rudeness or unethical behavior that will be hard to change.
Anything illegal going on in the back is very wrong, but management will have to be willing to investigate and enforce things. Of course that also applies to offers to do anything illegal outside the club.

"Dancers touching or rubbing against customers in order to try and sell a private show." I assume there's a degree of contact here that is unsaid. Better to be more explicit otherwise it sounds normal in most places.

I completely agree with you that all rules should be posted, etc. I also agree that bad management can easily destroy a club environment.

No, I believe she means that they are "slamming" other dancers. Talking bad about them...telling the customers not to buy dancers from another dancer by way of bad-mouthing them.

sound like a great letter. I'm sure you will get your point across and before your return maybe the situation will be resolved.

    Oh, mis-spelled unfortunately.
