    Default my knees/skin coming off

how do you prevent the top layer of skin coming off the knees when your on the floor?my knees have "rug burn" spots the size of a quarter and its painful and taking forever to heal up. I cant even get on my knees at all till the scabs heal and go away. The bruising I can deal with but how do i prevent the skin from coming off?

well, as far as injuries go...once the damage is done you have to wait it out. The only way to prevent it is either keep going through it until your knee skin toughens up (that's what I have read in MANY posts here) OR you can dance in thigh high boots or stockings to prevent the rubbing. Until then, try putting neosporin on before you go to bed...it will heal faster.
If everything you try is a sure thing, you aren't taking enough risks. If you never fail, you put a limit on the degree to which you can succeed. In short, the only way to win big is to risk losing

Start using a blanket or cloth to do floor work on. And buy some nice knee high boots & wear thick socks. Feel for you, hun. It'll get easier to not scrape the knees with time.

Is your stage carpet? Carpet or no carpet...Ive also seen girls wear tiny knee pads ( I mean tiny) under their dance pants and when time for them to get naked on stage they would only pull the pants down so far but not fully off.

This is why I don't do any floor work at all.

OTB, always a ray of sunshine.

....anyway, my advise is to honestly just wear some thighhi's until it's not "ugly anymore" but keep doing the floor work through the pain, or else it won't get any easier. I don't mean to do it until you cry, but just stadily keep at it until it gets easier. Mine took about a month of working 5 days a week to acclimate.

A girl I worked with always wore black knee high boots with black knee pads. It ended up just looking like over-the-knee boots, and apparently it helped a lot. That's if you don't mind always wearing black boots

There's good advice above ^^. I wish i had someone tell me that when i started.. i learned the hard way. I seem to do that in everything. But, please don't let the problem escalate any worse. You can scar yourself! I didn't protect my knees when i first started & i just grinned and beared the pain. After a few layers of scabs, i finally caught on & started wearing thigh highs/boots. This was almost 3yrs ago & i still have a dark spot/scar on one of my knees[luckily & strangely it wasn't both]. The more sun i get, the darker the scar.. sad reminder . Hope you take care of your boo boo .
