    Default UM......Haunted House

If you are close-minded, stop reading right now.
I have wondered about posting this because some of my metaphysics threads have been ignored/ridiculed. But something happened last night.......
I was typing on the computer in the storage/ computer room and my sister was doing her homework next to me. While I was looking at the computer screen, I saw a tiny flash of light near the wall, in my peripheral vision. I thought it was from my pinched nerve (one symptom of a pinched nerve is blurred vision or other similar symptoms) and so said nothing to her.
Twenty minutes later, my sister asked, "Did you see a little flash of light by the wall?"
"Between the dirt smudge on the wall and where the paint is rubbed off in that spot right there?" (We be livin' ghetto, ha ha- haven't re-painted yet.)
"Yeah..." We compared stories and had seen the same thing in the same place, maybe not at the same time, since I said nothing about what I saw when it happened. It was not light through the window, it was like a little penlight flash against the wall. We then actually started laughing about it because we both think our house is haunted, so it's no big whoop. I was cracking jokes about being afraid something was gonna bust through the wall like Kool-Aid Man did in those old TV commercials.

But the serious note is there is a spirit here who seems to be very angry. When we have family drama of the bad kind, or there's something new going on in the place, things happen. I wasn't even sure until something scary happened over the holidays, and then I was really convinced. Of course, I have bigger problems than some ghoul that pops up occasionally.

Has anyone had a similar experience? I have been told "house spirits" act up when a house is being re-modeled/ changed or of course, when big changes occur with the living occupants of the house. We're having a little of both going on.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but i'd look up and rule out all physical options before looking to the metaphysical. , and all. If there is no other explanation, then start thinking spooks.

    Again, not to disparage you...

I once lived in a house where shit like that happened all the time, it turned out it had to do with grains of SAND that somehow got mixed up with the paint when the previous owners redecorated, and some of the sand reflected ambient light... unlikely that this is what's up with you, but the weirdest shit sometimes has a mundane, and unexciting, explanation...

I hope!!!!!!! I'd prefer not to have to anticipate who-knows-what popping into my peripheral vision. I'm high strung enough...........
Nope, nothing like sand or mica in the paint...it's ugly old porous vanilla white I can't wait to paint over.

EDIT: for those of you who are rolling your eyes now, the phenomenon I was guessing the light was: "spirit light" where a flash of detectable energy is generated by an unknown/ "spirit" source.
I also have witnessed the phenomenon of skeptics sputtering and nearly crapping their pants in fear while in a situation they cannot readily explain by scientific means. Which is more entertaining than any spook.

    Hey Hunny..

Just PMed you back. Check your email later tonight

As I've said before, skeptics won't believe something until it's proven to them. Unfortunately, it's always first-hand "proof" and they find themselves nearly crapping their pants.

I totally believe you too, Maxine. I've also had weird experiences, two major ones in a house my ex-husband and I used to live in. Not to sound all Amytiville, but we gave up and moved rather than fighting with spirits, so I'm sorry I don't have any solutions. I did run a quick google for you and there's a lot of info on the web regarding warding off spirits or keeping them happy

Actually, i'd probably look on it pretty clinically. Science doesn't have all the answers, i know this. Particles called Tachyons that move so fast they go backwards in time... The "Quantum Leap" phenomenon (Any Scott Bacula jokes will be met with a ), where a particle will vanish and reappear in another location... Just how life popped up on Earth in the first place, what is inside a Singularity and why does it ALWAYS have to be within an event horizon... etc...etc... there's ideas for all these things and more, but nothing concrete. So i'm used to science being, eh, incomplete in some areas.

A real ghost or poltergeist or whatever probably wouldn't have me crapping my pants too hard because there just aren't many actual documented cases of them actually hurting anyone spontaneously. There's very, very few of those and most of the ones that do exist were never claimed to be a departed human in the first place (The shit that went down in Amityville with Ronnie Defeo was always claimed to be demonic possession/infestation, for instance, not that i buy Defeo's story or the Lutz's for that matter).

If i ran into a Demon, commence crapping of pants (And i REALLY don't believe in those), but just an Apparition hanging itself over and over? Nah. A ghost that taps on the table or yanks a chair to the ground, might be annoying but at the end of the day what kind of danger is it? Fear should be directly applied to danger, and the fact that it's dead doesn't count. It's useless to fear death.

I believe u too Maxine. I don't know if you are Christian, but if you are a good way to rid your house of ghosts and spirits is to read the 23 Psalm throughout the house, and then leave the bible open to the 23 Psalm in the room where the most supernatural occurences happen. Trust me, it works!

Thank you for all the kind and helpful info. I do keep written records about what happens here and tell friends and family to make sure they know I'm not just exaggerating/ see if they can help explain the situation. But I am not here all the time- the records are irregular.
What's funny is my sister and I laughed about the light incident all night. We're not shaking in our boots....

The bad spirit, well, we got his number. We know who he is and why he is here. He died angry, alone and convinced he was robbed of this house, so I can see him hanging around to suck energy out of the living and stay somewhere familiar. That is the explanation that makes the most sense.

I rapped with my mom a bit on the phone, and she says to burn sage and sweetgrass (whatever sweetgrass is) and walk the smoke through the house. She said a bunch of other shit, too, but it all went over my head.

No clue what good it'll do, but if you believe in tha sorta thing it might at least help you feel better.

Hubby and I went to Wilmington NC this past weekend and did the "ghost walk" downtown. The historical section of downtown has been well preserved and they actually have a ghost tour. A guide takes you to several locations and residences that are haunted and they actually know the history behind them. It was sooo cool. My husband is a skeptic so he says there is an explanation behind all of it lol. Even though things happened in our old house that he could not explain. We stopped at one house where the current owner had to have a "talk" with the ghost (original owner) to get her to stop slamming doors. Supposedly it worked for them. Good luck with your situation! I am completely fascinated by ghosts. I was really hoping I would see something on the tour How did you find out who your ghost is?

I believe you without a doubt. Being that when I was about 10 my 2 friends and I had the pleasure of seeing a black figure walk from my through the door of mother's room then through the wall across the hall. That was the 1st experience I had. My 2nd came when my firend, boyfriend and I decided to go "investigate" the Augusat Military Academy (supposed haunts along the lines of evilness occur there). We didn't run into anything at all until my boyfriend got mad and decided to return to the car. We finally went out to the car and he wasn't there, I swore I saw him running across the lawn so I start to chase him. He darted across the street so I went to follow and fell in an unseen ditch(nothing big..a lil stumble) and then proceeded to run top speed across the road still with him in my sight..when I heard him call my name from behind me. I stopped in my tracks turned around and he was behind me like what in the hell are you doing....I turned back and looked in front of me where I had stopped and there was a barbed wire fence. In other words I felt like whatever I was chasing didn't take to kindly to me and was going to make me hurt myself by running into that fence. I hear that's what happens normally when people are injured..ghosts make people hurt themselves, but demons....that's another thing.

Coming from a Skeptic, just because we don't have an explanation doesn't mean there isn't one. Even if some of these Haunting stories are true, that doesn't mean all of them are.

I still counsel skepticism first, and paranormal last. Hey, if you believe all the stories, then every house everywhere is haunted! Being a believer and being credulous don't have to be synonymous.

That said: Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence...

True, you can't believe all the stories, but it sure is fun!

    Perfect example:
The road where I grew up had a really spot where the road slanted downhill to the right on a left curve. There were constantly fatal accidents in that curve. Well there was a rock off the side of the road in the middle of the curve that, when headlights shined on it, looked like it had blood running down it. Everyone said that some guy was thrown from his car and hit his head on the rock and it killed him. My dad decided to investigate and it was actually just a strange colored moss growing on the rock.

Frankincense packs a bit more of a punch with things like this. Sage is more of a powering-herb that's meant to work its stuff on the person doing the "spiritual eviction". You can definitely use it for protection, but you definitely don't want to use that towards any negative energies. Believe it or not, regular everyday household herbs can work just as well if you don't have Frankincense handy: Like Basil, Clove, Peppermint, Rosemary, even Mistletoe.

Part of the problem is that most of the house looks exactly like it did when the bad spirit/ man was alive and lived here. I think my sister and I remind him of two females that lived with him. And people he knew in life are still around here.
But there is a lot of good combatting the effect of an angry ghost. We have been re-painting and cleaning, most of us are busy with different things, we don't just hang around the place, and our dog is a constant source of positive energy.
Unfortunately, when bad drama goes down around here, it's BAD. One of my brother's friends died recently, close by, in tragic circumstances. He used to play in this house when he was a kid.
I think part of succeeding in defeating the bad in life, is to not LET those negative sources affect you too much, and to think of new ways to avoid letting negativity seep in.

Well you can do it Cuban santeria style. Okay I'm going to seem like the craziest person ever now to most on SW.
Okay you clean the house with ammonia, florida water, light rum and crushed up camphor clean all doors, mop floors ( of course not the carpet) , anything that you can quickly wipe like desks etc with this mixture. That's just to start but then theres more to do if needed.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.
