This thread is for songs that are illuminating or touching, but are not famous due to whatever reason. EX: everyone knows "Wind Beneath my Wings" by Bette Midler and "I Will Always Love You" as sung by Whitney Houston, but due to the Top 40 nature of the songs, they're not very personal.
"Picture This" Blondie- You can hear in Debby Harry's voice she is mourning the end of a relationship. The flip side to "(I'm always touched by your) Presence, Dear".
"88 Lines About 44 Women" The Nails- A tribute to modern women. And Mom's at the end of the list.
"People Who Died" Jim Carroll Band- Jim hacks and sobs out the true stories of the deaths of this friends, and then addresses them towards the end. Very honest song on a topic people fear.
"Shut the Door" Fugazi- this song freezes me inside. A man finds his girlfriend dead from an overdose. He screams out his survivor's guilt, regret, and pain, and then shuts the door "so [he] can breathe."
"I Wanna Live" The Ramones- the best reason/s to stop drug abuse.
REQUEST 4 TUPAC FANS: He had a lot of good songs from the heart, but I don't know the names. Can you add a few here and tell us what the songs are about? RIP Tupac.
