    Default No No Colors

    Hi Ladies,
I am a very petite, light skinned black woman. I am 5'4 and weight 104. I am very slender but I do have a large butt. What colors if any should I stay away from so that I don't look "too" skinny and/or bony?

^^ I agree, although I look kinda hot in neon green. Probably be best to stay away from neon orange or electric yellow.

I recommend light blue, black, white, and baby pink.

Turquoise is a nice looking color on most skin type around your range, but be careful, ANY color can look bad if you wear too much of it.

Once, a girl at my club that shall remain nameless wore a hot pink FROCK (long sleeve crew neck ankle length gown with NO slits)

Way way too much hot pink.

Yes Im the same way except I weight a bit more. Neon orange sometimes is a bit overpowering for me and neon yellow is definitely a no no. Some nudes like regular nude will wash you out. I choose chocolate color instead. Some baby blues will look cute. White is also a winner it will make you look darker and more tan. Except I have a bigger but its a white top and dark bottoms.

To accentuate a certain part wear a block color (no patterns) on that part.

Don't forget, the color you see in the store may not be the same color you get under the blacklights!

Pretty much a "dressing do" is to stay away from dark colours if you want to appear larger. IF you wear black people say it's slimming, but again dark colours can be worn by anyone IF it is the right outfit. Red is another colour that draws attention to the body, as it is a LOUD colour!

I would stick with soft lighter earth tones and see how they look.

But without a picture, i.e. hair colour, body size to actually see, it's hard to tell.

Go to a dept. store and try on various styles and colours, what makes you feel/look nice buy! What makes you feel too skinny stay away from. Alot of times it's not even the colour, it's the style on you that makes the difference.

Certain shades of taupe/ beige / nude can look very good on a medium-toned skin....it rounds out curves and has the effect of making you appear "nude" in dim lights. (EX: Jennifer Lopez used to wear beige and "champaigne" shades all the time.) However, if the garment is too big/ long, it looks bad.
Different shades of blue look great on light-skinned black women.
Another celebrity that chooses good colors for her medium skin is Beyonce Knowles.

Welcome to SW Alrichar! Ummm I'm gonna assume that you are similar to my skin tone. I personally think I look AWESOME in White, gold, any metalics, silvers. I am not a neon girl either..I like the classy look more.

Oh, and like a few of the other girls have mentioned, try to stay away from black. I just bought like 2 black gowns, but that won't be something that I will be wearing often.

Wearing white will make ur skin glow a beautiful bronze color. And it really stands out in the club. People can't help but look at "the beautiful girl in WHITE"

    Hope this helps,
    CK

Gosh, your description sounds lush, me wants to see a picture!

If you're light skinned, what colour do you wear your hair? I'm light skinned black girl and I've just changed my hair colour (yet again) to honey blond with v. dark brown streaks. Colours that suit me best when I'm this colour are neon greens (not the harsh darker ones), baby pinks and whites.

I'm not a neon fan personally. I think to many girls are wearing it. To the point where you're not really standing out because you look great, but because you look like a glow stick.
