    Default Moving to ATL

I currently live in Baltimore and I am planning on moving to Atlanta to be closer to my so who will be attending Tech in the Fall. I am African American 5'6" 38-30-40. I was wondering if anyone can give me any suggestions about when I should try to come for the best chance of being hired, where I should try first and how I go about it. I tried out dancing about a year ago but didn't so much care for the atmoshpere of the clubs I seemed to be able to get hired at. Anyways, any info/advice is greatly appreciated!

There are a zillion clubs there. All nude and low contact. Money tends to somewhat regular if you work it and maintain decent regulars. Atlanta is not that "seasonal" hot times are big conventions, Big sporting events and nascar.

Black girls can work at black clubs or "regular ones". Permit fees are ridiculously high - like $300 plus.

I worked mainly at the Gilardi clubs - Pink Pony, Crazy Horse

That and Oasis. Cheetah is the most upscale and the hardest at which to get hired. Actually the only one that I knew to turn away any girl. The pony also had amateur night that I did on occasion - usually fixed but you could swing through do a stage set and make some cash and get a feel.

I will tell you it was a pretty young dancer crowd - I was 28 and one of the oldest dancers everywhere I went.

Another warning. Atlanta is a big city but a small southern town. People will know your business if you are not careful. You may want to take that into account when considering your son heing at school there and act accordingly.

The 3 nights I worked in black clubs, I ran into people I knew otc. Kind of scary.

    Hope this helps a bit.

You've probably already moved to ATL, but the Fulton County (Cheetah) permits are $300 and non-transferrable. Dekalb Co. (Oasis, Pink Pony, etc.) permits are $200 and transferrable.

I've worked at Cheetah and currently work at Oasis. Both are great clubs, in my opinion.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the responses EXDancerJD and ktasinas! I haven't moved yet. Thinking about September - I don't graduate until August. I am moving to be closer to my boyfriend I mean. I'm only 23. I have another question. We don't have permits in Baltimore. How hard does that make it to get a regular job in ATL after dancing. I am only planning on working for a few years. I would really like to go into real estate after. Is there a really big stigma attached? If so would waitressing be a good alternative there in terms of money? Thanks for all the help guys

everyone in Atlanta has stripped, knows someone who stripps or is currently stripping....... we just don't discuss it!

There are 30+ clubs in the metro area so you should easily find a place to work. As far as which club, well your looks, personality and dance style will dictate a lot..... I've worked at about 20 clubs in this big town-- maybe send a pic and I can let you know which clubs you may want to go to?

Thanks. I don't have any sexy pics of myself. I am usually the one behind the camera. LOL, my friends must be trying to tell me something . . .

I just moved from Atlanta to LA. Atlanta is like the mecca for Black dancers. As an ethnic dancer, I've made the most money I've made anywhere. I've worked in Black clubs as well as other types as well. Atlanta has some pretty nice Black clubs, those of the sort you won't find anywhere else in the country. The Black clubs in most cities, usually leave little to be desired but Atlanta is a huge exception. Feel free to PM me if you want more info.
