What Do You Think About This Idea?

    Dear Ladies,

I really would like to hear what you think about the following:

I am a professional massage therapist specializing in Thai Massage. I was trained in the Reclining Buddha Temple in Bangkok/Thailand and work independently in New York. Before moving to NY, I worked with a fashion agency where I massaged the models backstage either while they were waiting for their turn or after the show. Since they have to walk and move a certain way, a huge amount of tension builds up all over their bodies, especially around the shoulders and -since they always wear the craziest shoes- the feet and calves. Now I am wondering if I can do the same in a strip club.

Here is how it would work: We use no oil in Thai massage, so there would be no residue or smear marks. In 7-10 minutes I can do a proper neck, feet, hand, calf or shoulder massage (i.e. only one of them). In the back room, I can either set up a little massage chair (very compact, takes up so little space) or if there is no space for that even a regular chair will do. As the girls go backstage to rest, change etc. I can give them a quick massage. I can massage 7-8 girls in an hour. Needless to say, a relaxed person would perform better on stage, be nicer to clients and just produce more money for the club. My fees are pretty reasonable and at around 80-90 bucks per hour, I think the benefits for the club owner are well worth it. From my perspective, I would make additional income at nights when I cannot get any regular clients anyway (most of my clients come to me afer work between 5-8 PM).

    Questions:
What do you think about this idea?
Have you seen any massage therapist in any club do this before?
What do you think management would think about this?
How should I approach management about this? (How do I convince them that I am not a pervert, trying to get my hands on the girls?)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated?

BTW, I am located in Astoria / New York and would particularly love to hear from ladies working in clubs in the area.

Many thanks and peace to all....

I've never worked in a club that had a massage person, and I don't know how club owners would feel, (being that I'm not a club owner) but I know that I do tend to get sore while dancing, especially if I've recently taken some time off and I'm just starting back. I think a massage between sets or VIP sessions would be awesome.

I've worked at clubs where the masseuse would come in early or after we closed...
One club I worked at had a female masseuse that went around the club while we were open and she gave every massages, but she was female so that miht not work out for you.
Just ask the club if they might be interested in allowing you to "service" the dancers... I don't think they will think you are pervy if you have credentials.

I would never let a man massage me. Also, I don't think management cares about the girls THAT much, so even if they do let you work there and see that you are not a pervert you will probably have to collect payment from the girls themselves. I, personally, would NEVER in my life pay a man to massage me, no matter if it's Thai, Shiatsu, Deep Tissue or a rub-n-poke. Never.

Sorry, didn't mean to piss in your cornflakes but I don't think your idea would fly.

No disrespect intended but this is very funny. I have never ever heard such a strong reaction to male massage therapist in my life. Have you ever had a bad massage experience, if I may ask? I am sure there are great female massage therapists out there but Thai massage is best given by a male. In oil massage, it doesn't matter because with oil, your hands will glide anyway. there is much less need to apply appropriate pressure. In Thai, we use no oil, so having larger hands with sufficient surface area and enough strength is key.

In any event, I suggest you never say never. If you have to, at least do not CAPITALIZE it. I hope that one day you will get a massage by a professional, reasonable male and change your view.

At Club Paradise in Vegas, a girl would walk around the room offering shoulder/neck massages. I don't remember how much she charged, perhaps $20 for 15 minutes, but I could be wrong. And patron and any dancer could get a massage. One customer bought me a massage and it was great! She did it right there at the tables. It was very relaxing and not sexual in any way.

It helped that the masseuse was an attractive sociable, flirtateous female. She really added to the experience in that club.

I've also heard of clubs that have a massage therapist with a small stool that would do 15 minute massages in one area of the club, but they are always going to hire a female. Why? Because that's what the customers want. Bartenders, bouncers, management, DJ, and kitchen staff are the only men I've seen working in a strip club.

I have had great massages from men, no problem here as long as they are licensed therapist in the appropriate venue. If you want to try this out, I recommend you stop by only high class gentleman's clubs with your resume and all references. Its a long shot, but some clubs who want to attract quality entertainers do hire makeup and hair and massage people, although they usually hire women or gay men.

Also, make sure to offer 15 minute massage sessions at a reasonable price, since dancers don't have an hour to spend sitting around. Also, if you do get hired, make sure that there is a way for customers to be able to pay for these massages as well.

    Good luck!

A very high end club I worked at for years in chicago had just that. A male massage therapist. He has been there for years and is always busy. He charges a dollar a minute. I always wanted to get a massage but was too busy to partake in one. I think if you have good credentials go shop yourself around, I think you would do great.

I don't think you will be able to get the club to pay you to work there. Even though I do get massages, I don't do it at work. Most clubs stink, are loud, and the hustle and bustle in the dressing area is too distracting to be relaxing- especially if I'm paying $80-90 an hour for massage therapy.

I hate to burst your bubble, but the way to get money for massage in the clubs is to sell to the club customers.

Someone else said that management isn't all that concerned about the girls, and this is also true. The girls are looked upon as replaceable, and are rarely even given anything as swanky as a paycheck, much less massage therapy. Also, most of the clubs I've worked in, management has worked to get the girls out of the dressing rooms as fast as possible.

Although you have a good point about the girls needing the massage therapy, I don't think this is one of those situations where it will go hand in hand with the business- Unless management can figure out a way to make money off of you. If you can offer a way to bring more money to the club directly (like paying a fee to be there or something) then you might have a chance.

Oh, one more thing... If a guy is paying a club to hang out there to sell the dancers massages, I would be instantly suspicous to his intentions. Unless he was just flaming gay, I don't think I would trust him as being a business person.

If the man is straight, it looks like he is just looking to get laid by hot exotic dancers, and getting paid in the process. We already have to deal with that from the bouncers and DJs, and these guys aren't touching us.

Just thought I would throw that in. Just keep in mind that dancers look on all men in the club as sex perverts, and use that veiw to earn a living.

I have seen alot of clubs that have a female walking around the room rubbing on customers for a few bucks, but never a man.
I dont think it would work, and could maybe get you killed on any given night ,just for asking"care for a massage?"

I do think entertainers should get a massage a few times a month so I would say to offer your services to them outside of the club.(As a male, again,I dont think you will get alot of takers unless you have a storefront, most will go to females)

I have a male cousin who used to do that in at Daisy Dooks in Davenport Ia.

He did alright at first... but, it has to be pretty high end for it to work.
I personally loved it. It wasn't as icky as some customer asking to rub my feet. hehehe

I have worked at some high-end swanky clubs that had a "massage hostess", but, as already stated, these massages were done on the club floor, and it was always a woman. Also, I'm fairly sure they paid the club a set rate, much like a shot girl, etc. I'm not sure if any club I can think of would be willing to pay someone, male or female, to give massages to the girls. I'm in agreement your best bet would probably be to ask the GM if you can put up a flyer in the dressing room or something, for OTC appointments. In my mind, this is much like the clubs I've worked at that had tanning beds for the girls to use. The rule was always you could use it, but never during your shift. The girls either came in early or did it once they were done. Just from a business perspective, having your girls off the floor while they're supposed to be working is probably not going to be real high on a clubowners list of things to do, even if it IS beneficial to the ladies.

    A) No way the club owner pays ANYONE for that sort of service for the dancers
    B) No way the club owner pays a male masseuse for exotic dancers
    C) No way the girls "allow" or endorse another male presence in the dressing room
    D) No way the girls don't resent one more person to tip out
    E) Rather unlikely the girls would pay for that while at work - they are there to make money. They want to walk out with it. Even if the money only makes it to the after hours bar, then it's still money they've made. If they give it to you, it's money they've lost
    F) NO WAY dancers at work pay a man to massage them.

You could maybe advertise at clubs - dancers do require some serious reflexology and detox/relaxation time. And I'm sure that if you are reasonable, professional and good, that you will get a decent client base. But not in the club.

I worked at some clubs in Atlanta that had a chiropractor and massage therapist come in a couple nights a week. Dancers paid them directly and he gave a good price. It was pretty legit - never too sketchy.

It is a nice idea, but when I'm at work the last thing I want is another man to put his hands on me. And ME pay for it, um... no.
