    Default God's Politics...Jim Wallis

Why the Right gets it wrong and the left just doesn't get it.

I was fortunate enough last Wed. Night to attend a "town hall" meeting in Tampa where Jim Wallis spoke on his book. The place was packed and included a variety of Christians, politicians, and even muslims that had questions about his approach to the political issues of the day.

He has been invited to voice his view with Bush and is primarily concerned about the abduction of God by the right and the rejection of God by those on the left. His hypothesis is that the left is now head by secular fundamentalists who have forgotten that the major successes of the Democratic party i.e. civil rights, social reform were started by black churches not secular organizations. The right has condensed morality down to two moral issues... gay marriage and abortion ... while neglecting caring for the poor.

I bought his book and it is very very worth reading. Haven't finished it yet, but am interested in your thoughts.

Also check out his organization Sojourners.. formed to promote his viewpoints.

Yeah, I saw him in Detroit last week. He's awesome!!

It's disgusting how the right has perverted Christianity, boiled it down to 2 hot button issues, excluded anyone who is not republican and manipulated it for their own agenda.

Republicanism is the worst threat to Christiantiy in the US today!
