Dancers aren't the only ones who use fake names you know...I have NEVER told a dancer my real name...I always like to switch it up, depending on which club I am at....sometimes I am Jake....sometimes I am John. Why should I give my real name if they are not?

And it didn't cause her any problems.
    I have to disagree here.

Firstly, I think the motive of most guys in trying to get a real name is that they think it's one more step towards getting a phone number.

Secondly, I think the dancers much prefer to stay in "character" with their stage name - it helps them to keep personal and work lives seperate in their minds.

I can think of very few dancers who work under their real names. One naively started dancing under her real name and found it too late to change - too many regulars. The other has a very unusual nickname from school and prefers to be called by it both inside and outside of work. (Her real name is very pretty, but she hates it).

As Casual Observer said: "Any dancer that has any interest in you beyond economic motivations will not hesitate to let you know. CO's First Rule of SCing is Always follow the dancer's lead."

    Motion seconded.

Not only stay in character but stay on course. The last thing I want to spend my time doing is arguing about how "real" my name is. I'd much rather be closing the deal on a set of dances.

And most dancers don't give a crap what their customer's real names are either. So go ahead and "get even" and go by a special SC name. It's not like strippers accept checks anyhow.

FONDL's first rule of SCing - I'm the paying customer and I expect to be treated with respect, and that includes courtesy and honesty; when I'm treated that way I treat the dancer the same; when I'm not I find another dancer or leave. Trouble is, it's not like it used to be, it's getting harder all the time to find a dancer who will treat customers that way. And that's why I rarely go to SC's anymore and may never go again, whereas for many years I was a frequent SCer and regularly spent lots of money in clubs. So ladies, next time you're wondering why business is going downhill, reread the dancer posts on this thread. The attitude expressed here is exactly why you've lost me as a customer. It isn't any fun anymore.

"Honesty"??? Dude the whole fantasy part of a strip club is a lie! SURPRISE! None of the girls are wearing lengerie and dancing on stage so they can pick up a new boyfriend...it's our job. And as dancers we respect the guys who realize that.

I don't give out my real name, hell half the people in the town where I live call me by my stage name, which is fine with me. In some states, your car registration and plates are public records, why would I give someone my real name so they can match it to my license plate and know my full name, my birthday, what I drive, and my home address?

Obviously from my prior posts I agree with Fondl. It's normal, and I think mutually beneficial, for a customer to try to get to know a little bit about the girl he finds attractive/interesting enough to spend money on. And at least it's not "What's your sign?" or, better still, "Do you come here often?" [yes, the pun is intended.]
But even if you don't like the idea of strange men knowing more about you than how you look and whether you give extras, try looking at it as a business decision. Having an anonymous relationship, ok business relationship, makes loyalty, and repeat business, less likely. Maybe he'll come back until the next better looking dancer/object comes along; maybe not. Knowing the dancer, even if its all smoke and mirrors and the "friendship" ends at the club door, makes the customer feel a little special, and less like a money machine. If you dance at a club where the customers are primarily tourists and transients, it probably doesn't matter. And if you're uncomfortable about it, don't give it (or any other personal information) out. But if you want to bag a regular, loosen up a little. We're not all weird.

Err guys, it's a fantasy.....and dancers like to keep a dividing line between their fantasy life at work, and their life in the real world outside of work. IMHO, getting to know real names and personal information blurs that line as far as the dancer is concerned - means that you are starting to get the first foothold in her personal life. Most dancers don't want their customers getting that foothold, hence they don't like you knowing their real names.

I have several dancers as friends, and I give lifts to several more at need. Inevitably I've learned the real names of more than a few other dancers due to slips of the tongue. I would never, but never, call those other dancers by anything other than their stage name unless invited to do so. I know that if I did so I would make them very uncomfortable.

In similar vein, being told her real name by a dancer I regard as a mark of trust and friendship - and I've always been struck by how anxious they are to impress on me that telling me their real name is deeply personal to them and I am not, repeat not, to tell their real name to anyone else without their permission.

Sorry, but I don't think us guys have any right to know a dancer's real name unless the dancer is comfortable telling us - and in most cases they aren't.

Not in my experience. In most cases they are comfortable telling me, and do all the time. I think the difference is that I don't ask. Like everything else, let the dancer take the lead in the club and OTC.

Phil - We don't disagree. I also don't think a dancer should give out her name or other personal information unless she feels comfortable doing it, and the customer should never, ever, reveal personal information or call the dancer by her real name during anything other than a private dance. That having been said, it's still perfectly normal, and complimentary, for the customer to ask.

I always used my real name. Customers never believed it was my real name, anyway. In fact ... most of the girls that I worked with used their real names. This was "back in the day," however.

    Might try:

    1. I was born in another country and my real name cannot be pronounced in english.
    2. My real name is now a symbol like Prince use to have so you can call me "the artist formerly known as Heaven"
    3. My real name rhymes with Aspen and i'll give you two free dances if you can guess it but for every wrong name you have to buy a dance first ...and see how long he tries to guess it. (the risk is he already does know your real name)
    4. My real name is "Imaloser" and i love to hear customers scream out my name in the club....give it a try.
    4. And when you have had enough of the fool, ....My real name is Steve.
"Peter, did you take Stewie to a strip-club? He smells like sweat and fear." - Lois and Stewie (Family Guy) ... "Through early morning fog I see, Visions of the things to be, The pains that are withheld for me, I realize and I can see..."

I was given a fake-real name once as a pre-emptive strike by a dancer. A gorgeous brunette sat down and gave me the "Wanna dance?" line. Up to that point, it didn't look like she was having much selling that night so I forgave the effort and accepted her offer. She said, "Let's go" and off we go to the back. So I sit down and she asks my name and then goes on to give me her fake-real name. I thought it was really odd but she proceeded to give me one hell of a dance. No complaints!

    Hey, guess what people!?

Jenna Jameson - not her real name
Carmen Electra - not her real name
Marilyn Manson - not his real name

Lots of people have seperate names that they use for their careers. What's the difference?

If a dancer lies you and is comfortable with you, she'll tell you her real name.If you keep pushing or ask her too soon, like 5 seconds after you meet her, chances are she won't like to say it,since she doesn't know you too well,or doesn't trust you enough.

What? You mean to imply that your real name isn't rusdancer?

BTW, I agree with the original post, a customer shouldn't ask a dancer her real name. He shouldn't have to because she should volunteer it as soon as she sits down and introduces herself. That's just common courtesy, anything else is rude. And to give a fake name is insulting and is treating the customer with disrespect. When a dancer shows disrespect toward me I treat her exactly the same. Because my second rule of SCing is: I treat everyone the way they treat me. The only girls who I ever spend money on are the ones who are open, honest and respectful toward me. If you don't trust me enough to tell me your name, I don't trust you enough to show you what's in my wallet. There is no valid reason - none - not to tell a customer your name. He can easily find out anything he wants to know about you whether you tell him your name or not.

Seriously?? WTF. I'm glad you never came to my club, I think you are a jerk for even saying that. Common courtesy would be for you to realize that I don't want every creep to know my personal details! Asshole. I don't appreciate you making me feel like if I don't tell you my real name...I don't DESERVE you as a customer. Go to hell.

Err, excuse me while I suffer an outbreak of logic.

If dancer's are to give their real names as soon as they start to chat to a customer - why have stage names in the first place?

I want to thank Heaven777 for her post, because the attitude she expresses illustrates far better than I ever could why long-time customers like me are losing interest in strip clubs and why the remaining customers so often treat dancers with disdain. I hope you ladies all read that and reflect for a moment on how that attitude impacts your business.

In every commercial establishment that I have occasion to visit - a restaurant, a department store, the doctor's office, the auto repair shop, the barber shop, the massige studio, etc. - the person who takes care of me will either introduce themself or wear a name tag or both. That's considered to be good customer service, in addition to being the polite thing to do, and it show respect for the customer. The strip club is the only exception. There only a few of the girls typically do that, treat the customer with respect. Funny thing though, those also seem to be the girls doing all the business and making all the money. As Phil says, "... why have a stage name in the first place?" Exactly. My ATF never did and she was always the top earner in her club.

But one thing puzzles me. If Heaven and some of you other ladies aren't interested in hearing about what a long-time regular customer thinks is wrong with your business practices, why do you bother reading the "customer conversation" section in the first place?
