Janice Rogers Brown and Priscilla Owen are indeed 'Dangerous Women" ? !

Also, it would appear that the 'nuclear' option is going to become a reality this coming tuesday, based on Bill Frist's statements

The Democrat's support the advancement of women and minorities only if they hold the "correct" views. Namely, democratic views.

Condolezza Rice is Secretary of State first and foremost because of her political beliefs and her demonstrated abilities. I'm sure the fact that she is a woman of color is seen as and added bonus by Republicans. NOW and the NAACP have become de facto auxiliaries of the Democratic party. These groups were formed to for fight for the rights of women and african-americans to advance based on their qualifications and not be held back by their sex or ethnicity. Yet when GWB nominates women and/or people of color, the Democrats in the senate oppose them for those very reasons. That is the ultimate in hypocrisy.

That is the ultimate in hypocrisy.
Yes, and this isn't limited to Democratic opposition to Clarence Thomas, Condy Rice, Janice Rogers Brown, Bill Cosby or other prominent black people who happen to espouse non-liberal public views. The same Democratic opposition also occurs when prominent hispanic people such as Miguel Estrada, Alberto Gonzales et al who also happen to espouse non-liberal public views are concerned.

If you take two steps back and look at Washington politics today from outside the historical mindset, you now have the Republican party promoting minorities, while at the same time you have Democrats who are in large part rich, white elites also promoting rich white elites. The Democrats provide a lot of lip service in support of minorities, and they give minorities lots of camera time, but once the cameras are shut off they are not actually DOING much on behalf of minorities except taking their continued votes for granted. The ultimate embodyment of this was Barbara Boxer ripping into Janice Rogers Brown at her confirmation hearing. It is the Republicans who are actually placing minorities in positions of power and responsibility, and the Democrats who put minority liberals on camera but share next to no actual power with them while at the same time claiming to be the party that 'supports' minorities.
