    Psychobilly/Rockabilly Set!!!

I went to see two of my ATF bands last night, Supersuckers and Reverand Horton Heat (yes Ms. Wayward, I know I'm soooooo 1993, hehehehe )

So I got an idea to get a super short petticoat underskirt, a couple of fake tats, and a wifebeater, and add one of those bouffants to the top of my hair, perhaps a pseudo-cowboy hat to start.

Now, this kind of set would be pretty common at Crazy Lady, but I wouldn't be able to pass their hiring standards because I have no tats, track marks, or nearly enough cellulite......

    Now........to the music!

I wanted to start out with Five-o Ford(fucked up ford dammit!) by the Rev because its one of their more recognizable pieces....

So what should I do for a second song? Dick Dale wouldn't work, all instrumental. The Flametrick Subs are ok, but their songs aren't long enough.

Some bands I like in this genre for song recommendations:

    The Cramps
Stray Cats (kind of a stretch, but they are recognizable)
    (Older) Nashville Pussy

As much as I hate doing 2 songs from the same band, "In Your Wildest Dreams" is sexy, sexy, sexy and not too slow for dayshift...........

One day I want to do a Supersuckers set to "She's My Bitch" and "Non-Addictive Marijuana" too. Anyone else here have some Supersucking faves???

Hah, you took the words right out of my mouth--but hey, I had a great time at the Garbage show last week so that makes me so 1994. And I think I spent all of 1993 and 1994 going to see the Oblivians and other assorted garagey bands.

Why not Dick Dale? Will they actually not let you dance to an instrumental? I've danced to Night Train a bunch and it certainly doesn't have a lot of vocals.

There was a girl at XTC who always danced to "Bikini Girls With Machine Guns"--you could try that. Or if you want to mainstream a little you could throw in a Stray Cats tune. Or Junior Brown would be awesome too-more country but it would totally fit.

Have you heard The Legendary Shack*Shakers, or the former Austin band Big Foot Chester? They might be a little raw but they are definitely down the same alley.

Oh, and duh, Southern Culture on the Skids! Camel Walk or Eight Piece Box are both really fun for work.

could even mix in some older Brian Setzer...I'm not sure the average sc club goer is a discerning psychobilly/rockabilly fan...at least not at my club lol those are just a few...man I LOVE doing rockabilly sets with the rev.
    btw
That was an awesome show huh?

Perhaps I've seen them a few too many times, it was fun but it didn't rock my socks off. They are consistently good bands.

I saw Southern Culture play not too long ago and they did rock the house, perhaps I will look into something by them as well.

    Thanks all!

Ok its a stretch, but i think it might fit what your looking for.
The Cramps-swing the big eyed rabbit

The group is rockabilly meets rob zombieish, great stuff if you have never heard of them.

For the kiddies,Brian Setzer is in the movie Country Bears, awsome movie!!!!!!
He plays in the house band for Queen Latifah.
Oh,and about all of setzers stuff,as far back as the stry cats days is just plain awsome, the guy has some incredible talent.

Another great Cramps track is "Like A Bad Girl Should". I can wedge it inbetween just about anything and make it fit, and the crowd usually seems to dig it.
