Default Memorial day good or bad for dancers?

I travel alot to dance and was wondering on the average if Memorial Day will cause a decrease in earnings? I work mostly in DALLAS i travel from OKC. I dont know if I want to pay all the expenses and find out theres no business. Any ideas?

    thanks

Of course this may not hold true for your area, but my experience as a customer up here in the northeast is that Holiday weekends tend to be on the slow side.

Usually the one exceptions is friday afternoon leading up to the weekend which can be VERY busy. Lots of guys getting out of work early and a jump on the weekend.

Over the weekend though, and especially on the Holiday Monday, it's been my experience that the clubs are pretty slow. I used to think a holiday Monday would be busy - lots of guys with the day off. However, that's not been the case around here.

Usually there are a lot of other activities and distractions for people over those weekends....bbq's, home projects, etc. Family guys usually have to spend "quality" time at home. heh.

Also, custys know that holiday weekends are times when a lot of dancers take a break as well.

Of course the club may still be busy if there is a nearby draw like some holiday event, festival or sporting event.

    Just my 2 cents.
If you can't win. Make the fellow in front of you break the record.

Personally, I've found it to be great. I'm planning on working that friday and sunday. Last year, we were packed, and the guys were tipping really well. I banked.

    it's good if you're in a vacation/resort area

bad if you're in a major metropolitan area

Another idea is to target any one day.
What i mean is it all depends on what the day "off"falls on.

If its a day off for most daytimers during the week, like a tuesday or thursday, work the night before and the night of.

If the vacation falls surrounding a weekend, like a friday or a monday, work thursday thru monday. Its hard to say what the bank night is ever going to be during a 3 day weekend, cover them all!lol

If the vacation falls on sat or sun, work fri to sunday.

Its impossible to say if a day off or a holiday is going to hit, even things like the weather will mean big differences on memorial day alone. If its nice outside where you are that day,its probably going to be slow.If its raining its probably going to be busy.
One things for sure, the night before guys dont have to be at work the next day is always good.

Dont just work the night of,work the nights surrounding as well.If one or two out of the three hit,you will be there to bank.
