    Cocktail Waitress

Hey Im A Newbie, And I've Always Wanted To Dance, However I Haven't Yet Got Over My Nervous To Do It. I Was Thinking About Going To Check Out Some Clubs And Maybe Try To Get A Job As A Cocktail Waitress. Do Any Of You Know If This Might Be A Good Way To Start? Also I Live In The Bay Area But I Would Travel If The Club Is Nice. Please Help. Even Your Own Personal Stories Would Be A Big Help. Thanks :d

I would go to clubs that would be convienent for you to get to and that you could see yourself working at. I would search this board and the stripclubjunkie.com boards for Bay Area and see what others have said about particular clubs. Be prepared to be turned down for dancing jobs. A lot of the clubs are in the too many dnacers not enough customers mode. Never hurts to try though! Starting off as a waitress will let you see what kind of clients visit during the day and night. Seeing that you are over 21 you have the advantage of working at a topless or full club. Check 'em out bring some friends have fun. Good Luck.

Yeah def try waitress whatever your comfortable with. I also live in the bay area. U have to be 21 for most strip club on broadway. Sometime having a friend in the business helps too. Call up the clubs and ask are they hiring.

I started out as a cocktail waitress! I had never really spent time in a strip club before then...I really got the feel for the environment, and a confidence boost, and went back and danced! Just go for it! Good luck girl!

I also started as a waitress and had never even been inside a strip club before that. It really helps you get used to it. It's also good 'cause you start to become friends with the dancers and they will help you out the first time you do it. I found for me that was the easiest way to start. Also, I started on a slow night so I didn't feel so embarrassed.

heh. Yeah from this old one liner you can see that starting off as a waitress is fairly common.

So here's question or thought to consider....

Unlike dancers, most of the waitresses I know use their real name and don't go by a stage name. (Anyone else find this to be the case?) A few I know who made the transition from waitress to dancer; I know their real name from when they were a waitress.

So if you are definitely thinking of becoming a dancer, you may want to consider going by a stage name from the beginning. Today's drink order customer, may be tomorrow's dance customer.

Also you may want to see if the clubs have other types of positions available. For example, some girls aren't comfortable being full fledged dancers, and yet not really into waitressing. Luckily for them, many of the clubs in may area aslo have back rub girls. Yeah there is contact involved, but they get to socialize like a dancer, don't have to undress, don't have to run around all night like a waitress, and still make $10 per back rub. I know lots of dancers in my area that started off as back rub girls too. It gave them a better sense of what it was like to sell to a customer. Just another option to keep in mind.
If you can't win. Make the fellow in front of you break the record.

i started out as a waitress.

it really helped me with the whole "taking your clothes off in a room full of people" thing. because well, it was just the norm. we waitresses were in the minority.

It seems to vary from club to club. Where i danced, in Phoenix, waitresses used their real names. Then, I was visiting a friend who dances in Houston, and the waitress told me her name which sounded suspiciously fake. I asked my friend, and she confirmed that the waitresses there used fake names.

Good idea if you ask me.
