I was curious if anyone here has had the LASIK procedure. I'm thinking of doing it and would love to hear of your experiences.

I couldn't see the big 'E' on the eye chart and now (4 years later) I see 20/20. It is the best $3000 I've ever spent. I went to Dr. Repke in St Pete (FL). The procedure takes about 10 minutes and they give you valium beforehand. You can't see when you leave b/c you're dilated. you take a nap and wake up an hour later and my vision was 20/20. My mom did it too and had great results.

Myopia is epidemic in my family, hence my dad and his two sisters have both had it and are all thrilled with the results. I've thought about it, because I'm severely nearsighted myself, but I kind of like having the glasses option available to me. Plus disposable contacts aren't too much of a bother. And that image of Homer Simpson with the crusty eyes keeps popping into my head.
But out of the half-dozen people I've talked to who've had it, not a one has been less than ecstatic about the whole process. It seems pretty cool, doesn't it?
