Sad Any advice..... ?? Dancing Dilemma!

Geez am I in a dilemma I've been dancing for about 6 months now and just took about 2weeks off because everytime I went into work and walked on the floor....panic attack

I have loved dancing and loved the money and the flexibility but am not sure if I can go back? Mainly because I'm worried my panic attacks will get worse and I'm not sure if my hearts there anymore.

A mentor of mine has organised an interview for a well paying role (well paying for my age lol) in his company so I have options. It's not in the field I'm interested in but after 6 months I can transfer sectors. It sounds like it's could work out into a good career. I'm not sure if I should take it because I'm in a bit of debt I wanted to get myself out of via dancing but I'm not sure if I should keep dancing ..... HELP!

It sounds as though dancing is just not for you - panic attacks are not a good thing. Why not take this opportunity offered by your mentor and set yourself off on that career path you can see laid out in front of you.

It sounds as though are quite enthusiastic about this opprtunity and so you should take it. You will still be able to pay off your debts, you will have the benefit of a regular fixed income - you must know how unpredictable dancing can be - and if you learn to budget then you will steadily decrease your debt whilst you carve out your future career.

Good luck with your future and remember that your peace of mind is worth more than all the $20 dances you could ever do.

    ^^ Well said.

If you're having panic attacks at the club, that's your body telling you it's not the place for you. IMO.

I think you're right - I just needed to hear it from someone else. I've got the interview but I have to make it past there on my own so I hope it all works out. The more I think about it the more certain I become One of the girls I work with said once you leave dancing you should never go back?? Not that I'm planning to already lol but what do you reckon?

I am going through a similiar situation right now: (http://www.stripperweb.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50760)

I think Bridgette said it best, you have to listen to your body. There are other ways to make $$$ without dancing. I tried to save over the years but because I didn't enjoy the job so much I would constantly be having to take time off and I would spend my savings only to start again at square one (I have achieved many things but no where near as much as I would like).

I know a few girls that have "quit" only to come back a few months/years later. Worry about that in the future if the need arises, right now just grab the opportunities under your nose, honor your body and SMILE!!!

You are young you have plenty of time to achive your dreams!

I don't know if it's necessarily the dancing that's doing it, though obviously if a certain situation triggers panic attacks you want to avoid it. Regardless of that, I would still recommend you get some professional help--if you have them at the club you could possibly have them elsewhere, and you want to make sure it's not indicative of some other problem or deeper issue.

Sound like you've got a good opportunity available--even if you were to continue dancing, I would say take it!

Im the opposite way. When I worked at the club I was fine and dandy, but for some reason when Im home alone, I flip out and get panic attacks. I would also say take the job offer, because you could build a good career for yourself that you probably couldnt with dancing, or would have a harder time doing if you continued to dance.

Usually they start with hot flushes and I get a bit shakey, then my hands and feet go numb and I have trouble breathing. Sometimes it gets worse sometimes it doesnt. I've passed out 2x its not fun I hate having panic attacks

I haven't danced for a few weeks now and haven't got one but I had a few before I started dancing as well so I'm stumped

I get panic/anxiety attacks also. The last one was so bad it landed me in the emergency room... thought I was literally having a heart attack. Cutting out caffeine 100% helped immensley! And there's a couple of different trial meds that helped, but I refuse to take a pill everyday for god knows how long. Also having cleaned up my diet and regular vigorous excercise has helped too. Talk to a Doc - this is something you want figured out and have control over. Good luck!
