Default Dilemma about sit down charges

Ok im confused, we are supposed to charge customers by the hour if they wish to sit down with us. We are told to charge £120/$220 but its up to us really bcos the house doesnt receive any of this. It includes as many topless dances as the custys ask for but if they want nude dances then its extra. The other night it was pretty quiet but I sat with a guy and asked for a dance. He said he wanted to order us a drink first and see how it went before buying a dance. So he ordered us a bottle of champagne (the most expensive on our menu) and over the course of the evening proceeded to buy 5 nude dances from me. The thing is I knew i should have charged him for a sit down but if he said no then I would have felt awkward going up to him 5 times to ask for the dances so I figured it woukd be better to sit with him for free but drink his champagne and ask for nudes. I dont know what to do in a future. I probably could have asked him for a sit down fee but as it was so quiet I didnt want him to say no and then lose money if he decided he only wanted 1 dance or something. I hope this post makes sense!Advice please!!

Perhaps you should have casually mentioned the 'sit down fee' while you were sitting there. He got a good deal and YOU should have told him that.Since it was slow, you should have said something like hey.. i'm supposed to charge a sit down fee but since it's busy I won't. I imagine he would have been even more gracious and maybe given you some money. Or maybe you can just lie and tell the person you're having a good time with him, but you're supposed to charge and the cut gets a certain percentage. Then at least get that percentage.

If he could buy the most expensive champagne, he could pay you. I know some guys feel more obliged to pay the house than the dancers, but YOU are the one entertaining him, so ask for the money girl! Even if it's a discounted rate on a slow day, it seems to me you should have gotten more out of the deal than 5 dances - espeically when he has no problem buying the most expensive champagne on the list.

In this case, he also may have been under the impression the dancers get a cut of the champagne purshase, so if you don't, you might have been well served to mention that fact...

Sounds like you suffered from a crisis in confidence. You underestimated what you're worth and your ingenuity to get it. I agree with the points already made. If your guy can afford expensive champaign, that should communicate the size of his bankroll. You not only passed up the sit-down fee but also didn't even make the point that you were treating him so special. What are you going to do next time he comes in and thinks this is standard operating procedure? Ya gotta set the bar higher than you did, even on a slow night. If they don't want to pay, they don't get to play. Screw up your courage, ramp up the charm and go for it!

Well he kept going on about how I was only doing the job for money and talking to him for money which made me feel a bit awkward so to try and prove my point that for me the job isnt solely about money, I said that Im supposed to charge a sit down fee but I havent so I obviously am talking to you because I want to, not for money. Iv since spoken to the other girls and their attitude is do whatever feels right. Some of the girls find it very easy to do sit downs, some of the other girls cant bear to ask and would rather go round dancing all night. Thanks for your responses girls.

"you're just doing this for the money" = standard customer shit. He WANTED you to sit there to prove your point, that you're doing it because you want. He was playing you hun.

My response to that is pretty straightforward: Hell yeah! A girl's gotta pay the bills and I can't think of anything I'd rather do for a living. It's the most fun job I know! ---It lets them know that yes they will have to pay me but they will have fun doing it Positive and upbeat attitude, with the sexiness thrown in.

There are other ways to go about it, but this works for me and most guys appreciate my honesty and fun attitude.

Believe me I said all that stuff! He was just odd. Nevermind. I dont think il bother with sit downs unless a cust asks outright. Il just move on if they wont buy a dance. Just hate that champagne to go to waste though

Well then that guy was just an ass. Many of them have figured out they can screw girls around when it's slow because many girls will put up with it hoping to just make SOMEthing. Don't give up on the sitdowns, just give up on the assholes

Hey, whatever works best as your style. After hearing the rest of the story, I think maybe you got the most you could get given the resistance and slim alternatives on that particular night. But don't automatically judge the potential of similar situations by how that guy acted.
