Default US soldier beaten at Gitmo? (He says yes, Army says no)

    Excerpt:

"They grabbed my arms, my legs, twisted me up and unfortunately one of them got up on my back from behind and put pressure down on me while I was face down," said Baker. "Then he began to choke me and press my head down against the steel floor. Ut seemed like an eternity because I couldn't breath. When I couldn't breath, I began to panic and I gave the code word I was supposed to give to stop the exercise, which was 'red.'"

But, Baker says, the beating didn't stop. "He slammed my head against the floor and continued to choke me," he said. "I muttered out, 'I'm a U.S. soldier, I'm a U.S. soldier.'"

Baker says when the soldiers noticed what Baker was wearing, they stopped.
"He saw that I had BDU's and boots on."

Hmmmm, it sounds like the soldiers were training to torture... um... "certain people", and now this soldier has a case of brain damage from this little "training exercise?"

    MC,
Soldiers have been known to lie. The Army has been known to lie. Since the soldier in question had a head injury it is even within in the realm of the possible that he may honestly believe something is true which is not. Either one or the other (or both) is not telling the truth. The truth will come out eventually. At this juncture I would not give either the benefit of the doubt and not jump to any pro-or-con Army position..

    Or not.

It's one soldier's word against that of the U.S. military, and much is at stake for both parties. I'm guessing the absolute truth will be tough to tease out here.

History is written by the winners...and truth is defined by the powerful

if it is "shown" to be true, believe it

if not, it still might be true.
