    Arrow Professional Hair Distaster

Hey all! Hope things are well with all of you.

I have a question. My sister got married last weekend and I was a bridesmaid. My hair was colored black and I went to a salon here in town (very well known) and asked to have my hair stripped and colored back to brown. I made the appointment a couple weeks in advance and they only had an opening the day before I had to leave for the wedding.

My appointment was supposed to be first thing in the morning but when I got there, they only had time to trim my hair and asked me to come back at 4:00 for the rest. They were all very nice and even went to get me food because I hadn't eaten. Make a long story short, my hair was stripped of the black, but the color wasn't processed when added. I sat with the stylist before we started and showed him the color I wanted. I told him no red whatsoever.

Well, when it was all said and done, my hair was bleach blonde and orange and it was an hour after closing. I wasn't in any of the wedding photos and my sister was furious. I was a bridesmaid and got left out of the photos! My husband said I should ask for my $200.00 back that I paid and take the bill from Sally's for all the stuff I bought yesterday to fix my hair. What do you think? Am I just being a total butt-hole? I mean, $200.00 and my hair was thrashed.

Sue them honey! That is not ethical at all! You can also contact the Board of Cosmetology and have them INVESTIGATED! My mom is a cosmetologist and eventhough I can't do hair myself, I know a great deal about the business side.

When you hair was finished, and they held that mirror up, you should have IMMEDIATELY told them you were unsatisfied. It is a cosmetologist job to make the customer happy about their appearance. I strongly suggest you call/write to the board of cosmetology. I would also call the salon back and explain what happened to their head manager/owner. If they do not offer a resoluntion, I would politely let them know that I would be contacting the Board of Cosmetology and they will be investigating the salon very soon! Trust me going that route will really open their eyes and let them know you mean business!

Yes, what C said^. I had a similar experience, not as bad, but the dye was left on my hair too long, made it too light, (plus overly dried out). I did wait a day or two, but I did call the mgr. & she had me come in so she could see it herself. I got a full refund (includ. the tip). I didn't go as far as the Cos. board I just had a lot of stuff going on besides that situation to pursue that. You can also contact Better Business Bureau. bbb.org online

Yea - first call the salon and see if they'll give you your money back... second - the problem... you didnt give them a chance to reconcile by going back to get it fixed before you went and spent money somewhere else to fix it. I wouldnt have left the salon until it was what I wanted, personally. I dont care if its 4 in the morning when I get out.

If theyre a smart salon theyll refund your $$ ( BUT it wasnt their fault you went and spent money somewhere else instead of comming back)

If they DONT offer a refund (hope you have pics of your hair) then you can contact the Board and then if nothing happens go to small claims.

My mom did hair for 20 years and never would want a customer unhappy - that could hurt her clientel. If theyre smart theyll just give you what you want - the $200 and Sallys bill. I hope you didnt tip because that may hurt your case... you usually tip for a job well done.

    Good luck!

And hun - when I get out of cosmo school come see me and Ill make ur hair perfect

if they won't give you your money back, not only contact the Board of cosmetology, but also the better buisiness bureu, they are in charge of all buissiness related things.

Ooo thats so rude of them. If they didnt have the full alloted time to do your hair then in all professionalism they should have not done it at all that day. But for now whats done is done.
Im not sure if they have done this before to your hair but.....if someone doesnt know how to handle your hair then they shouldnt do it and decline your request for your own safety.

Solution: YES! Ask for your money back. You are simply an unsatisfied customer and was treated unfairly by the hairstylist; that alone should be enough. Take pics as well. You expected professional service and did not recieve it. You NEED your money back any way you have to get it.

And, ummmm...under no circumstances should you let the same salon "fix" your hair. They've already fucked it up...make them give you your money back and then some so you can go somewhere else and have it corrected.

They won't agree to the "padding" for going somewhere else...but a few well-used words will usually win them over. Use words like "reporting", "small-claims", "newspaper article", and "word of mouth".

if they got your hair to orange and you wanted to go brown all they needed to do was color it with a med brown which has a base that is on the other color cycle of orange and it would have been done. process would have taken 15 min to apply and if it was soooo late they could have had you rinse it out at home. its HARD to get black out. color goes through stages when you lift it but orange is after brown. black-brown-orange-yellow-white.

i dont get what their problem was... and yes they could have "fixed" your hair and very easily. i dont get why you LEFT with your hair blond and orange??? Why didnt you tell them to finish the process - all they had to do was put a med brown over the orange.. left it on about 20-25 min and youre done... all i can think is your hair looked like a nice blond when you left and you decided to leave it that way then when you saw it in other light you saw the orange and got pissed? It kinda makes no sense why you left in the first place?

LOL audrey baby, ya dont sound like a bitch..actually that makes perfect sense. I reallly hope Aleah gets her tail back in here so she can let us know the followup.

DO NOT let this go on weeks, hell not even days without consulting those ppl. That will just make ur case weaker. Also, I hope you took pictures...
