Default I know I am not supposed to tan, but darnit, life happens!

With being a natural redhead, I tan and burn in the summer. Never mind how much SPF-100 I cover myself with, never mind how much I try to cover up, stay out of the sun, and so on, I AM going to get tan. No way around it.

So my question to you is, how do I do it GRACEFULLY? By this I mean, minimizing tan lines and tanning evenly? If I so much as walk by a sunny window, somebody will notice I "got some sun" today. I want to avoid the streaky self-tanner look and even more so, the multiple shades of tan going up my arms from different-length sleeves.

    Any suggestions?

Colleen have you tried tanning towels. They're like baby wipes but when you
wipe them on your body they apply a lotion that tans your skin evenly and you can control the color of your tan.

I usually suffer from this too. I think I'm one chromosome away from being an albino. I don't burn though, just cannot get color.
I finally broke down and went to a tanning salon. They started me out nice and slow, but about 5 weeks later, I've got some color!!
Try doing it, and if you have to, just stay in for like 3 minutes for the first week. Slowly build up.

Call me stupid but I'm still waiting for someone to come up with a tanning lotion that you use like a bubble bath. You pour a few capfuls into the tub, soak your whole body in it for 8 to 10 minutes, and you come out looking all golden tanned - nice and even, no streaking, but a gosh darn perfect tan. Okay, sorry if this is a little off topic, but I do think someone should invent this. Hey, why not.. ?

How about trying a tanning lotion/accelerator with bronzer in it?

BUT the catch would be that the product would have to NOT stain the tub, and not give you a weird ring around your neck.

i agree with hardkandee ... start off on a low bed 20 minute max beds(stay away from the mid or high pressure beds for now those are the beds that go to 12 or 10minute maxes) for 2or 3 minutes 3 times a week and very slowly up your minutes example 1st week 2 minutes... 2nd week 3 minutes... 3rd week 4 minutes. Also a very good tanning acclerator with no bronzer or self tanner in it such as: Brown Envy... it's cheap (8 bucks a bottle) and it works very well. Also a good everyday moisturizer helps out a tan alot.
This site is great about tanning... The people there are super helpful about any tanning questions most of them are tanorexics and tanning salon owners and very knowledgable and have tanning down to a science http://www.iamtan.com/index.php

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

Oh, yea, well I forgot about things like that. DUH. Anyway, I still think it's a good idea if someone could invent a tub-tanner of some sort. LOL. Really.

Coppertone has this product out called Gradual Tan. It is moisturizing lotion with a minimal amount of tanner in it. You put it on everyday like lotion. It dries very fast. And you can control the shade of tan you desire. it doesn't leave streaks, and it gives you a great color. I have been using it for a few weeks now and love the results. I actually get more compliments than when I tanned/airbrushed/self tanned.

Jergens has an awesome one too. It has sparkly stuff in it and smells great all day. It just didn't get as dark as I wanted.

you can blend tanner in slowly by mixing it in with lotion... try it with a low concentration and work up, but it should apply more evenly that way. Otherwise, try the mystic tan.
