    Default Hair Extension Havoc!!!!!!

I have short chin length hair, and have been wearing a long black wig while workin the club. It helps me get into character and honestly makes me more $ than my regular do. Its a really nice synthetic wig, and usually no body even notices. My problem is that it's beginning to be a pain in the ass!!!!!! It's really hot to wear onstage and when customers do notice it , its kinda embarassing, and want to know what my real hair looks like.
I'm seeking advice about track hair extensions, glued to your natural hair. A friend at work has them (she did them herself), and they looked great. I think it would be a great way to lengthen my hair temporairly. She also told me where to get the supplies, and where to get natural hair at a great price.
I did some researching on the net and only came up with a lot of advice on the bonded hair extensions that usually run $1,ooo+ and are done with individual strands of hairs. I know i can use them for a write off but I'm humble and there's no way in hell I'm going to pay for these.Lol!!
Has anyone had this type of track extension before??? If so would u recommend them????
I appreciate it ...I'm supossed to give her a call this week and she's going to meet me at the club early and teach me how to do them myself......

if your hair can be pulled back into a ponytail, you can try tie in hair falls. these are very comfy. they can can put on in 10 minutes! you can get them in dreadlock or regular. i have the dreadlock ones. check out: http://www.batgearbeyond.com and look under the cyber hair section for sites.

This girl http://haircandy.net/index.html does her own extensions and has extensive "how-to"s on her site with pictures.

I've seen girls glue the tracks in with the bonding glue you can find at Sally Beauty Supply. All they were doing was basically parting their hair horizontally, applying the hair adhesive and pressing the track just below the part against their head. Now, I personally wouldn't reccomend that method and would say check out the above site BUT they got good results in a quick fix so... knock yourself out.

I glue in my own tracks. It's cheap and it doesn't do too much damage as long as you don't keep them in longer than two weeks and use a bond remover when you take them out.

The write-off is a sketchy area. Just because you didn't get "caught" on it before doesn't mean that it's ok.

Technically, if you wear the extensions at work, you would need to take them out before leaving work for personal use to use them as a write-off. If you wear them around (like, duh) outside of work, then they become a personal use item...which is not deductible.

Being that you cannot prove that you got them for work only (like with breast implants which are also NOT deductible)...it would be very hard to support the notion that this would be a write-off. Of course, it always comes down to the opinion of the agent doing the investigation.

I agree with Venus a bit, BUT my accountant explained it a little differently. If you cliam to be a model and some of us are models as well, you are albe to claim anything that you use in your job, from lotions to hair because you are using them to keep the "look" complete. That's when you can claim the extensions because they are being used in that line of work.
BUT I could also be wrong since I don't have extensions, but I do get trims and bleach and he said I can write that off as well as my nails.....
Please don't lick me, it tickles..

I wrote mine off, they cost $1,500 and I got them for work. They were worth every penny and I plan to continue using them for personal after I am retired.

Veronika, thanks for the link! I could never do an entire head of hair on myself like I have but it seems neat for adding some colorful pieces.....
