So how do you do it when you travel?

Ok, I hope this makes sense. I have a couple of questions and since I have being enlightened by ya'll so much, I hope ya'll can help me on this one!!!

How do you do it when you travel a lot, and don't work in a particular club all the time, regarding taxes and employment law? I am very paranoid about giving out my SS# out to a club because one of my girlfriends got hers stolen by another stripper who used it and got her in BIG trouble. I do have a tax id number though, can I use that instead? Will a club let you work without giving your ss# out but showing your id?

If you travel, how do you keep track 1099 and all that?

I am not an experienced dancer, but I really want to get in the biz so I can save up some money and go to grad school. I also can't really dance in my hometown because my family will yank me out and shoot me if they know what I am up to, but I can cover travelling because my boyfriend travels a lot and I can say I am with him (I hope) and he is fronting my bills (which is not that far from the truth I guess).

Anyway, any advice, tips or warnings will be welcome. Thanxs!!!

Also, any clubs recommended for travellers like me? I live in the south.

Basically, if your TaxIdentNumber is registered in your name, and you will be filing income taxes as a sole proprietor business, then you can put down the TIN on the club's application instead of your SS# if you want to. However this really won't buy you any more security from abuse, because if someone else claims your TIN the same thing will happen. In regard to giving either your TIN or your SS# to a club, by law (and we all know that not all clubs follow the law) the club is supposed to verify the fact that you are a US citizen or Green Card Alien under the Patriot Act before allowing you to work, and showing a driver's license plus Social Security Card are generally asked for to meet the two forms of ID legal requirement.

In regard to 1099's, by law (and we all know that not all clubs follow the law) if a girl reports over $600 in earnings at their club within the same year they are obligated to send that girl a 1099-misc, with a copy to the IRS and the state tax people as well. You won't actually know which clubs will sending you 1099's until they start showing up in your mailbox next February.

Make sure to keep a notebook showing all of your earnings in each club, along with all of your expenses (motel, meals, mileage, tolls, costumes, shoes) which go along with working at that club. Also, throw all of the receipts into a file folder as you may need them if/when you are audited.
