Default Stars,Stripes,Strippers, its as american as apple pie.

    Ok guys n gals..
Its almost 4th of july weekend!!!!!!!
    (start praying now for rain)
(unless your in florida right now,you guys keep your head down)

    anyways....

Out comes the stars and stripes outfits, off to the cleaners they go so you still got time to sew on the sequins they rip off.
    So what about the music?????

Are you going to go with the same thing everyone else is???
Can you say every known version of american woman played on the hour???

Kill me now,I aint doin it!!!!

So I figured I would start a list for all the jocks to give you suggestions for the holiday weekend, stuff you might not know,or may have forgotten, maybe even stuff thats kinda a stretch.
Maybe this will give everyone the time to find it on cd somewhere,or download it or something.

    Rules...
Its gotta be something patriotic or somewhat america based.
its gotta work for the stage.

American woman-by all of them=out of bounds
Back in the USA-Bruce Springsteen=10 yard penalty

    heres a start.....

    Dink-Green Mind

Great 10 second patriotic talk in,perfect for dj soundbites.
The song is rockin, but almost to the out of hand point.

so who else has got ideas for 4th of july music???

I got your America-based right here:

    "Fortunate Son" -- CCR
    "Ohio" -- CSNY
"John Walker's Blues" -- Steve Earle
    "War"--Edwin Starr
"This Land is Your Land" -- Woody Guthrie
    "Rebel Girl" -- Hazel Dickens
    "Travelin' Soldier" -- Dixie Chicks

    . . . but I'm just perverse like that . . .

I would really love to see some gal come out in red, white and blue boxing trunks and robe to James Brown's "Living in America" from Rocky IV, though. With sparklers!

Big G: I always found the intro to "Green Mind" to be sarcastic, and not actually in any way pro-american.....but maybe that's just me.

Melissa Etheridge:"All American Girl". I like this one since it's upbeat and not done to death like guesswho/kravitz/whoever and tom petty.

Miss Susan: Playing "War" by Edwin Starr seems to me like playing "American Idiot" or "I'm Afraid Of Americans", and maybe not the best and smartest idea around the 4th. I don't shy away from political statements, but personally I don't know if the SC is the place for them. Now, that being said.....there's an interesting more rockin' version of "War" from the small soldiers soundtrack with Henry Rollins, Flea, Tom Morrello, Bone Thugs, and....I dunno I think someone else.

Oh, and I have had a girl do the whole boxing robe/top hat/stars n' stripes bikini thing to James Brown.....it was great!

    Team America - Fuck yeah!
(LOL if you need some laughs to lighten it up. why the hell not)

Taliban Song - Toby Keith isn't it
    American soldier - Toby Keith
Courtesy of the red, white, and Blue - Toby Keith

Star Spangled Banner - Jimmy Hendrix
    (intro maybe?)

Dukes of hazzard theme Good Ol' Boys - Johnny Cash
(patriotic ? No the dancer can strip from some Daisy dukes though! )

    Taps
(probably a mood killer but why not play it before midnight. everybody knows somebody who has served or is serving now.)

    Armed forces Medley
(This would keep it upbeat and it is all the services together.)

That was my brother lost in the rubbleThat was my sister lost in the crushThat was our mothers, those were our childrenThat was our fathers, that was each one of usA million prayers to God aboveA million tears make an ocean of[chorus:]One for loveOne for truthOne for me, one for youI found spirit, they couldn?t ruin itI found courage in the smoke and dustI found faith in the songs you silencedDeep down it?s ringing out in each of usYeah... yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah[chorus:]One for loveOne for truthOne for me, one for youWhere we once were divided, now we stand unitedWe stand as one... undivided. How many hands? how many hearts? How many dreams been torn apart? Enough, enough... the time has come to rise back as[chorus:]One for loveOne for truthOne for me, one for youWhere we once were divided now we stand unitedWe stand as one... undivided.Undivided.Undivided.One for loveOne for truthOne for me, one for youWhere we once were divided, now we stand unitedWe stand as one... undivided.

I prefer the Frankie Goes To Hollywood version of 'War'

We had a gal at P10 last year dance with sparklers, it was great and the audience went wild. Unfortunately, I believe she did utilize the Springsteen for her last song, oops!

"Pink Houses" by Mellencamp maybe? I abhor him but everyone knows that song.........

We're the kids in America- remake by Bloodhound gang, but I believe than annimotion did this song in the 80's still a very cool song...

No one has said Born in the USA by Bruce Springsteen? WHY???

    More suggestions:

    Freedom- George Michael

Free Bird- although long, could be cool by Lynrd Skynrd

2 minutes to Midnight- Iron Maiden

    China White- Scorpions

A great day of Freedom- PInk Floyd

Don't tread on me - Metallica

HERO - Chad Kroger from the first Spiderman movie

    American Town- five for fighting

Living in America - James Brown

    Higher - Creed

    Just a few..
